If dodging only makes you lose LP and not MMR

Why don't people dodge more in solo queue? Do most people not know about this and how matchmaking works? I'm all for off-meta picks if they're within reason and fill a role you need... but I often feel like I'm in a mexican standoff in lobby.

People would rather play with something like miss fortune support or mordekaiser support and lose/troll the game than dodge and take 5 minutes of their life versus a minimum 20 minutes of bitching and moaning ingame + mmr loss

LP is just fluff and there to make you feel better about yourself... literally

I feel like a lot of people think dodging is the worst thing is the world. If we have someone playing a champion they have never played before in a strange role (something like AD Gragas top) or the enemy team comp is just all around much better than ours, I will dodge. It is way better to lose the LP then lose LP and MMR.
