Actually the lore says that Jayce and a couple of other champions decided to go Full Metal to fight the Battlecast. The Full Metal Skin Line is to fight off Battlecast.

That's called Full Machine it's the part of Viktor's lore that he fulfilled his goal of becoming a total Robot with no organic parts
