So I just realized Kalista's passive is a better version of Sivir's passive
Passive: Fleet of Foot
Sivir gains 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 movement speed for 2 seconds when she hits an enemy champion with her abilities or basic attacks.
Passive: Martial Poise
If Kalista enters a movement command while winding her basic attack or Pierce, she will drive through that direction when she launches her attack, dashing a short distance. Martial Poise distance scales with Enhanced Movement, and is increased by 25% when dashing backwards.
Simply put, in nearly every way Kalista's Passive is superior to Sivir's:
-
If either champion is slowed: Kalista's passive allows her to still kite or to retreat or keep up with an enemy while Sivir receives less of a benefit and might still not be able to keep up.
-
Kalista may dash through thin walls while Sivir cannot.
-
Kalista may dash with any auto attack, whether it be targeted toward an enemy champion, minion, or neutral monster. Sivir must proc her passive with only an enemy champion.
-
Sivir receivers her speed increase if her abilities hit a champion (her Q and W). Kalista may also use her Q, but it does not require that she hits an enemy champion.
Some advantages that Sivir's passive has over Kalista:
- Sivir receives her movement increase for 2 seconds while Kalista has a single dash (per auto attack or respective ability proc). Can't really think of others (can people in the comments come up with some?)
In the end both champions have different strengths and weaknesses so soley comparing their passives doesn't say if one is better than the other. But I thought a comparison of passives would be interesting.
Just my 2 cents: If I could change Kalista's passive, I would directly tie her Current Movement Speed with the distance of her dash. This means that she still will get the benefit of being able to dash further with Enhanced Movement, but slows would greatly reduce the distance she can dash (below what the current minimum dash range is). Even with
, she would be catchable when slowed because she would not be able to cover as great a distance as she can cover now (many tiny hops vs many large hops). This would allow more counter play with abilities and items. (Might make Ashe a counter pick?). But I have some faith the balance and design team have something up their sleeve.
Feel free to express what you think about this comparison in the comments.
