"Go play bots then."
I've never been good with skillshots. The champions I'm best with tend to not have many. But as the game seems to be gravitating towards skillshots, and since I don't want to shut myself off from tons of champions, I decided to practice the champion that gave me the most trouble of all starting out:
He's a champion who needs to land his hooks on the right people and at the right time... or it can become open season on him and his ADC. You should've heard my friend's reaction when I chose to support him with Blitz the other day. You'd think he was having PTSD flashbacks to when I first tried Blitz. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty back in those days.
But I readied myself with something like 20 co-ops, and have been playing him almost exclusively now when I do normals. I remain extremely hot-and-cold with him, except I still see progress even in my off-matches because my whiffs are coming closer than before. It's very much a work in progress, and you'll sometimes see me so off my game that I'm constantly apologizing to my team, yet the high of a great pull is worth all the lows. Had one just the other night where I was at our mid inhib turret and 3 of them were grouped over the wall there to the right and I got a pull on Ashe right into our turret. My team, and even some on the enemy team, commended me and suddenly I didn't care about any hooks I'd missed prior to that.
Anyway, I graduated to normals since I knew co-ops would only get me so far, and now I remember why I swore off of Blitz for so long. People in this game are always hyper-critical and pros at shifting blame, but struggle at all as Blitz and watch as your team spends the entire match pointing out your every failure. Our Cass mocked me in chat just about every time she saw me miss a pull, then started saying how it's all aim, ignoring the fact that prediction also factors in heavily. For example, one of my missed pulls was on an isolated Veigar I thought would see me running in with my W and actually, you know, dodge. I aimed to the side I thought he would move to, but instead he stood still.
Cass went on to call it the easiest to land skillshot in the game, while at the same time whining about getting nuked by
. Keep in mind her, and seemingly everyone else on my team, would get in AA range of the fed Veigar and stand still, basically offering themselves up to him. Oh, and the only MR on my team, aside from my
and
, was
(
) and
(
). Veigar finished 25/7/16, whereas I finished with the highest KDA on the team (2.23), highest kill contribution (51%), and was tied for fewest deaths (13).
Yet I was the only one getting crapped on by my team, and even the enemy team. I let them get to me to the point that I went into all-chat in the hopes that our opponents would back me up, but the
said I was landing my hooks all match (if I was aiming for minions), while the
told me to go play bots when I said I was still practicing. With how people have gotten in my matches with Blitz, I might as well... since I've also apparently been giving my opponents too much credit by predicting that they'll dodge. I've noticed my pulls actually land with greater frequency when I barely take that into account. ("Oh, a Blitz is chasing me? Better run in a straight line")
Just... sigh. Must people always take this match so seriously, whether it's ranked or even co-op?
