I'm wondering, around the workplace (and, really, everywhere), do you often refer to each other by your summoner names, or by your birth names? Are there certain places where you tend to use one more than the other (email/forums/face-to-face/etc)?

Most Rioters and nearly all players call me Ghostcrawler or GC. I've only called myself that on forums or in games (and NEVER IN BARS TO IMPRESS LADIES DESPITE WHAT YOU MAY HAVE HEARD.)
I call most Rioters by their real names because I haven't made all of the summoner name connections yet.
It can occasionally be useful when two people have the same name and work frequently together to have the option of switching back and forth. I had a meeting last week where we decided that for the duration of the meeting (since he shared the same first name as another person in the room) that we would call Morello "Morello".
In general, though, my experience is the same as Whist's, of everyone using their real names. When I first was getting my bearings, I would sometimes ask where, for example, CertainlyT sat, and people would stare blankly at me, since everyone knows him by his real name.
It kinda depends.
Few people call me Whist, most people call me Tom. The people who don't actually know me but need to talk to me about something call me Thomas (because that's what the name tag at my work area says)
In the Art Department we really just call each other by our real names (sometimes last names because multiple people have the same first name).
I've generally seen Rioters use real names with each other, although in game or on the forums, its more clear when using Red Names.
In the office, I call everyone by their actual name.
Anywhere else, I call everyone by their Riot handle.
That's just me, though. I'm just extra sensitive to some people's desire for privacy, and if I'm not 100% sure of their preference I just call them by their Riot handle.
Everyone calls me Bacon.

I just enjoy seeing the often punny names people come up with for themselves.
I call most Rioters by their real name, though I tend to call Baconhawk "bacon" from time to time and I refer to Ghostcrawler in the third person as "GC or Ghostcrawler" to other Rioters because when I use his real name half the time they look confused for a second or two. Myself, most folks call me "J." or "Jeckert" (my first initial plus last name), though there is one or two who on occasion who call med "Sarg". (Short G, not at all like "Sarge")
Ironically, outside of work, more friends call me Sarg than not, but then again I've used Sargonas since 1996 soooo it's kinda stuck, heh.
In either case I happily answer to either equally without complaint.
My last name is Kartman, so you can imagine that everyone wants to call me Kartman at work, at home, everywhere. -_-
