Why Order is guaranteed to lose

#Disclaimer Before reading this post note that these are generalizations and that if you and/or your friends are an exception that is already accounted for later.

I mean Riot directly states Riven stands for Order, Progress and Love, with stricter rules Yasuo stands for chaos, death and destruction, ruining everything to rebuild an impossible world. So why will Yasuo win?

Simple, this is the internet. The 'good guys' have always lost every single fight of popularity.

Zerg is the most popular race in Starcraft Sith are more popular than Jedi Lissandra was more popular than Ashe in their event Horde outweighs Alliance players heavily in WoW

Even modern media portrays the rebels as almost always being the good guys.

Why? The media industry, especially on the internet, is largely ruled by young players/viewers. These are people living at home who are dealing with their parents every single day, a representations of order in their minds, same goes for the schools they go to. It is well known that for reasons like this most young people are far more rebellious. What is more is on the internet you have a whole lot of them trying to act like they are special by acting edgy, pretending they are mental, or talking constantly about how cool evil is.

Young people like chaos. And some chaos is healthy, it stirs up society when there is foul play afoot and can lead to healthy revolutions. But young people do not see it this way, that is not Yasuo's goal in this event. He has made his goal clear, it is not to cause some chaos to shake up an order he feels is corrupt and rebuild a new order. It is mass destruction and murder leading into a chaotic world that he considers ideal. Pretty cool for a villain honestly, almost had me on his side.

But why did I side with Riven? Because honestly, on the internet. Love, Compassion, Order, Progress, these are the 'rebellious' actions on the internet. Because everybody pictures themselves some sort of chaotic crazy person, that has become the normal attitude and side to pick. Sadly, this event was predictable from the start, I said it in another post long before the bar moved in Yasuo's favor.

While there are exceptions to the rule, young people who prefer Riven or order. In general the mass number of young people with far more free time for games is still a bunch of young people who want chaos and disorder. They still want to see their cool guy beat that overly controlling girl. Regardless of their actual goals or moralities, they will create any justification why his side should be picked even in a realistic scenario.

Meanwhile people like me who want to side with Riven for moral reasons and because I like the character well... I work two jobs and go to school. My op.gg will tell I do not have much time for LoL compared to dedicated players. Sure there are exceptions, people with jobs who are fully responsible adults and just side with Yasuo because it is fun or they prefer villain characters. But we are talking about the generalizations of the masses that are playing the game and leaning the bar, not the couple exceptions that may read this.

I have seen it honestly in dozens upon dozens of fandoms. A couple older people who try to be cool by picking the dark side, most young people picking the darkside with a few exceptions who just like the light side more, then a bunch of older people too busy to be dedicated fans but picking the light side.

For clarity I am young myself, in my mid/low twenties. I just came out of my edgy darkside period a year or so ago. So it's not like I am some 30-50 something year old judging all them youngins or something.

So anyway, that is my view on why chaos was assured to win from the start, you may disagree but here is some Order art to pursued you.

Besides, Yasuo is also about control. You don't get to make your own choices when a madman destroys everything and kills everyone so...

You're forgetting one crucial thing, Mira.

Order has bewbz.

All I needed to see was " chance of Hex Tech Annie"

I would have thought that it would result in that, and it looks like Chaos is ahead.

But i don't think Order is losing by much. It kinda surprised me to see like 80% of my friendlist chose Order.

I picked Chaos cause I like the icon and stuff you can get more, even if i hate Yasuo.

But i think for many players it's actually not even Order vs Chaos but Riven vs Yasuo.

"a bunch of young people who want chaos and disorder."

They think they want this until they realize what real chaos and disorder is.

Or you know, Yasuo is just more popular than riven.

Except the Horde is actually the good guys in WoW, and almost all of the objectively evil deeds done by Horde was either not technically their own fault or something completely out of their control (or at least for the most of their population); unlike Alliance which has a somewhat solid reputation of bad and questionable behaviours even at the civilian level. The only exception is really Garrosh (and so handful of others), because he mad. There is a reason why Blizz made 2 expansions back-to-back with Garrosh rampaging and made Horde look like a bunch of twats and brutes, because Horde has been too good until then.

So not entirely true.

Even when I was little, I was always a weird kid; I have a ridiculous level of empathy, to the point I can't even hurt a fly (I think it's a good thing though, I wish more people were like that), and I always treated characters in games as if they had feelings -- refusing to play bad guys or use cruel attacks (even now, at 23, I can't play a cruel or evil character without feeling all kinds of weird, and I try to avoid it if I can).

I was always drawn to the idea of a hero. But not a hero that's vain and boastful, like the cliche, rather a hero that's just helping people because it's natural to them, even if they don't have fancy powers, don't get recognition, or any of that -- even if it's just helping with little, almost mundane things.

As for your WoW example, I played Alliance for 9 years, Horde for two. When I was Horde, I could never stand how warlike and brutal most of the races were -- they had some redeeming qualities, like their incredible sense of honor, but I only ever liked the Tauren and Blood Elves. I played mostly NE and Gnome, but every char of mine became a Panda when MOP launched (I thought they were adorable).

So, irrelevant ranting aside, I'm a young person who has always naturally gravitated towards the good guys, and picked Order without any hesitation. We do exist, it's just that the majority of people are actually psychopathic (and that's not an exaggeration. In America almost everyone displays heavy psychopathic behavior and thought patterns. Just not to the extent a killer has). :P

It also may have to do with Soulstealer Vayne on Chaos's side too, so you got the Vayne Mayne Population on Chaos's side aswell, meanwhile Annie's playerbase is a 3rd of the size. (according to LeagueOfGraphs)

But what can ya do? :/

(I just wish Riot will release Order's victor icon even if they don't win, for RP or something) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/226151430732513281/326529807904931875/Screenshot_895.png

i chose yasuo not because of the reasons you stated cuz i agree with riven0s philosophy more but got dissapointed on her. she's no an angel, she's just some girl in a white armor.

Sukishoo6/20/2017, 6:39:39 PM4 votes

People just seem to love/hate Yasuo harder than they love/hate Riven, which is why he has such a high ban rate too xD. So it was no surprise that he's taken over the Event.

They just showed 2 not-so-good sides of both Order and Chaos.

Even in my teen years I've always rooted for the good guys (even if one of my favorite characters ever is Ozymandias from "Watchmen") and still I'd choose Order over Chaos. My choice of rooting for Chaos is simply because I like Yasuo more and I play him more than Riven.

Had them be Order Jayce and Chaos Viktor I'd had have chosen Order.

(Hope I got the grammar right in that last sentence)

yay nibbers6/20/2017, 2:58:19 PM3 votes

Edgy teens exist and in large numbers. Personally I think both sides are wrong, but in general I pick the side of order. In this case not only do they have more agreeable morals, but they have the better color (blue) and League's bestgirl (Riven, fight me if you disagree).

I also want to make a correction regarding something you said near the top of your post:

In World of Warcraft the Horde actually doesn't "heavily outweigh" the Alliance. Depending on what level range you sample from, the split is only ever 52/48 or 48/52 at most. At level cap 51.5% of players are Horde, but if you take the whole of all characters the Alliance take that same majority. Basically what I'm saying is it's pretty much an even split. These numbers are among US realms, but it's more or less the same on EU realms.

First off, Interesting read

I work two jobs and go to school. My op.gg will tell I do not have much time for LoL compared to dedicated players.

I feel ya :l

As far as my view goes, I usually prefer the morally grey characters. I may think Molag Bal is a cooler Daedric Prince than Meridia, but Hircine is still my favorite by far, the fact that he's not directly evil like most daedric princes is a big reason for that :P I suppose I do lean more to the Villain characters tho, considering I main two of the more... Evil characters in LoL , being GP and Sion :P

Nautoday6/20/2017, 5:35:17 PM3 votes

I always vote for good as well. But I guess there is always the exception. I hate both Riven and Yasuo, so that didn't make things too fun.

But the thing that got me was that the Order icons look way worse than the Chaos ones. As well as the ward skin. So in the end I picked just out of which icon/ward skin looked the best, and that happened to be Chaos this time around.

Whashifuk6/20/2017, 2:01:13 PM3 votes

I think it also has to do with the fact that either side gets a point if they win with a riven (Order) on their team or if they beat a riven (Chaos) And same thing goes for Yasuo. Thing is, riven playerbase is smaller and in my opinion, being a Yasuo main she's WAAAAAAY harder to play then Yasuo. This could be a reason for chaos winning, also that Yasuo is permabanned so people don't get very many wins against him cx

KirotheImmortal6/20/2017, 2:14:46 PM2 votes

I hate riven players. Thats my reason. Ither they win lane and bm the enemy or they lose lane and flame their team or contunue to feed.

It's because of the second law of thermodynamics
