Why am I, a Bronze 2 player, being matched with 3-4 plats every game?

i really doubt all of them have such a terrible MMR or are on massive losing streaks. I want to be matched with people of my skill level Riot. When games are like this it lowers the quality for everybody

Do people just magically think you stop being plat because these are normals and not ranked? No one sees a problem with this?

Cansema7/28/2016, 1:11:24 AM9 votes

normal games and ranked games have separate MMR...

so.. those high elo players may not play normals much...

Its impossible in ranked to get matched against Plat as Bronze.

i think your rank elo/mmr should be reflected in your normal game match ups. why allow a plat/diamond player to be matched vs silver and bronze. how is that fair match making. 90% of the time the bronze and silver lvl players have zero chance of wining the game, ideally riot wants the game matches to give each team an equal chance of winning. no way it can be perfect but some where in the % of 42-58 swing would be acceptable.

they already match premade dou's and premade groups vs a higher base mmr due to the coordination , chat, ect. that is the whole bitch about dynamic queue that a group is more likely to be able to coordinate better then 5 randoms.

by allowing high elo/mmr ranked players to queue against lower elo/mmr it makes an unfair, unfun environment which could create a toxic game. people getting upset, mad, raging and flaming if not afking due to getting smashed and people are like OMG look urgot is feeding top 0-5 bronze urgot vs plat 2 X champ. that player is most likely just getting beat. but we dont see it that way.

but this poster has showed links of games where he was match vs 3 plats. so it is an issue. its kinda like letting a division 1 college play vs anytown usa freshman football team.

When I was level 11, teamed up with ppl around 11~14, we faced a gold and a plat on the opponent team (no, not smurf, actual lvl 30 gold/plat accounts with full runes&masteries).

While I've come to realize matchmaker isn't omnipotent and will take time to rate players properly, I'd think it would take account level difference into consideration. The fact that it uses average mmr among group members who queue together is also a mystery to me, since that's probably the worst approach out of 3 choices, aka using lowest member's mmr, group average mmr, and highest member's mmr.

Im bronze 5, and it is very hard to improve my skill level when laning against somebody that is 2-3 divisions above me.

Same with me bud..

I think diam 2 in a bunch of low silvers is much worst

invisiblecat17/28/2016, 1:52:17 PM1 votes

If this is ranked, then it probably means you are Dynamic Queuing with Gold+ people, and if this is normals than they have a low MMR, but still they are Platinum players

The Deckowner7/28/2016, 2:16:36 PM1 votes

I am silver 1 and I still occasionally get bronzes in my gme...man dynamic queue sucks ass.

Lord Galvatron7/28/2016, 5:12:09 PM1 votes

It's possible, some platinum players are really that bad (boosting as well but oh well Dynamic que is Dynamic) Also you also may be better the average Bronze II player so it could be a little of both. I get plats all the time as well and I don't see them as noticeably better then the rest of the team composed of bronze, silver, and gold players.

LatetotheRace7/28/2016, 5:19:29 PM1 votes

Not enough players in the system. (That and boosting.)

If it is normals, that is a common thing. Ranked, not so much as it will never happen.

Aerothal7/28/2016, 6:59:14 PM1 votes

wait a minute...are you complaining about norms???

:'D

how about you try your best and study how they outplay you?

If you want to play with people your skill level, then play ranked.

Also, you can learn from plat players in those normal games (: treat it as a Learning opportunity.

My MMR in normals is Silver-Low Gold, but I'm Platinum. An example for you. MMR for normals and ranked is separate.

I WILL TROLL YOU7/28/2016, 10:10:02 PM1 votes

If they separated normals by rank then it would no longer be normals it would be ranked. What you are suggesting is we create two ranked ladders.

xXRaichopXx7/27/2016, 10:27:58 PM1 votes

BOOSTED PLATS?

balbraaksel7/27/2016, 11:33:40 PM1 votes

I think it's Riot's new way of balancing things, instead of matching a premade 4 to a solo higher ranked player (and balance the enemy team to that) they match them to a solo lower ranked player (and balance the enemy team to that), making solo players unable to have much influence on the match. It happened to me too, I was solo (Silver 5) matched to Gold ranked players against Gold ranked players where one was even Gold 2.

Only Play Darius7/28/2016, 1:29:20 AM1 votes

If it's normals it means you play at a plat level in a low-pressure environment. It's a good thing.

Pierce The Veal7/28/2016, 4:49:00 AM1 votes

Honestly the players you get matched up with and against should be the higher of your normal/ranked dynamic MMR. What this means is if you get really good in normals, then you get a boost in ranked. If you're really good in ranked, your normals aren't just a pubstomp.

Chicken4dinner7/28/2016, 5:03:56 AM1 votes

Game wants you to get gud (aside from the shitpost, it may allow some room for serious improvement via learning from them. Especially if they are your enemy laner)
