So Why Didn't Riot Just Create An East Coast Server?

Instead of moving the server to the east coast, why not make multiple servers? Genuine question. Is it too expensive? Too much time? Is it something they could do in the future? As a Floridian, I'm ok with this change, but west coast streamers aren't happy, and then we have places where their ping is even worse.

If this is the wrong thread for this, then could someone direct me to the correct one?

It would split up teams.

Rocket league does servers well. You can queue up for whatever server you want so nobody is split up, you just decide what server is best for the group and play on it. Meanwhile riot charges suckers 20 dollars to move several megabytes of their profile data to another server so they're beyond hope in this regard, but no, not wanting to split up the community is no excuse, the solution exists, and companies smaller than riot are able to do it just fine.

Well I'm here because even though they moved the servers a little more eastward its still shit for me. I mean its most likely because of people logging on early af for worlds [not sure if amount of people on causes my ping to rise], but even before that its still a joke and sure making two or more servers might split the community, but so what our community is constantly flaming and harassing eachother maybe a little separation will do us some good. Overall I just don't think anything will be done about this, what with worlds currently going on and their other future features being added, multiple servers is just another fantasy....like yorick getting a rework [Been in the works for over two years now]

To not divide the NA players they have to keep us on the same server. That's why NA doesn't play with EUW or others unless you specifically join on that server.

If they wanted to keep the NA together and have an East Coast server, the data would still have to be sent to a server across X distance. Adding a server doesn't magically fix latency. Distance does. And the location they chose makes NA pretty even across the board, which means everyone plays on relatively equal latency.
