I don't play mordekaiser because I have no idea how he works or how to win with him.
So I came to the boards with hopes of finding assistance with my endeavour.

E is good poke for distance champs or if you dont want to get close, W does continous damage for the duration as long as your near the castee and heals you for a flat rate which is nice, and Q does empowered damage scaling off your ad and ap with the third being stronger than the prior two hits, Ult does magic damage in the form of max health percentage, hes very slow so i recommend you run 3 movespeed quints, generally ppl go full ap with rylais and liandrys, but you can also go tanky, tri force is savage for getting your q hits off even faster, you can technically build whatever youd like and youll stomp anyone that gets in your face. id say play him against bots get a feel for him, then take him into blind pick and move up to draft then ranked, i go top or mid, but you can go adc/supp/ jg with varying degrees of success
Over my 10 games I have learned the secrets to playing Morde. Max W, heal your ass off, don't care about poke, ult that guy who towerdived or is getting focused.
Due to your healing and letting your frontliner run away fast you are guaranteed to not feed in lane and you have a slightly higher than 50% chance of winning because you let your fed carry run away and make enemies waste abilities killing their former ally that said theoretic fed ally killed. Just pray for fed ally.

In my experience, Mordekaiser has 2 ideal builds: pure AP or Juggernaut (personally I prefer the Juggernaut).

Now, the question of where to play him. AP Morde is best in the mid lane, but he can work in the top lane as well. Juggernaut Morde works well in top lane (provided you bring Teleport!), but where he can really shine is in the bottom lane as an off-meta carry. It is with this build that I have gotten my only penta kill in a ranked game. Get a Blitzcrank support (or someone with a lot of CC like Thresh or Nautilus), and go aggresive at level 2 or 3. Max your Q>E>W and take dragons whenever you can. As long as your team protects you you can absolutely destroy the enemy. HAVE FUN!!!
