It seems as though I'll be able to click and drag around the client anywhere inside the red box, but in reality, I can only do so inside the green box.

Now that you mention it my cursor keeps changing into double arrow when I am in the upper bar (your red box). It also changes on edges of the whole client window. And I think that even when I am picking my champion I got this double arrow.
Am I the only one who got this problem?
You can see difference in the background shading behind the client version indicating the top of the window. That's what I look at.
My real problem is that I now have to open my friends list every time I want to check if someone is in or out of game. I really liked being able to see it on the tab if I had an open chat with them. That seems like a simple oversight that I hope they fix soon.
Did they explain why the current free champ rotation does not appear in the bottom left as it was advertised in all the teasers pre-launch?
I was actually going to make a post about this exact thing later today, glad I wasn't the only one who was a bit annoyed by it.

Yeah... I keep having things I want to post about the client/launcher itself and there isn't anywhere good. I also agree about the title bar area.
I think visually, it's worth sacrificing clarity. I don't really think it's to difficult and if they changed the color patterns it wouldn't look good. That's just me, maybe you all feel differently
