A Rant on Bronze and a Discussion on the Inherent Problems of Lower ELO

Seriously it's the literal pits of hell down here.

I'm tired of trying to carry my teams. Why is it that i do all the work. i keep constant lane and objective pressure. and why does it feel like nobody... NOBODY ever bothers to put in work and effort. Why am i the only one bvuying pink wards and applying counter vision? why am i the one calling Mias for people. And why am i always the one forced to cleanup the mess my team did (such as feding the everloving shit out of a fizz who only killed me once the whole game). Why is it that these people are so horrid - So utterly terrible - they can go 0/8/1 and blame the team for how bad they are? Why do i have to mute my entire team the one second one person makes a mistake?

Why Why WHy WHY WHY? what did I do to deserve this? Normally when i lose i look at what i did wrong. what i could have done better. But as of recent it seems like my teams are just pulling me down. look at my last game for instance. i had a full hand in taking every tower we took. i did nothing but put in work. and still.... still for the third ranked time in a row. I lost to bullshit from somebody either leaving, being toxic, or being moronic (and for some strange reason it's always bot.... the lane i keep attention on the most)....

What is it with this strange bronze ADC mindset that the Support's job is to "FEED YOU" a support cant feed you. you have to feed yourself (all 3 times i heard this, mind you keeping very strict watch on the lane the support did just fine) their job is to keep you alive and secure vision of the Area.

like seriously this is so stupid. i shouldn't have to overcompensate for my teams stupidity. I understand one of the many trials you have to face in climbing is being a good leader... but seriously, this is bronze... NOBODY LISTENS NO MATTER HOW WELL YOU'RE DOING and this is tested. unless you're playing a hyper carry/push champ even my Gold I friend gets Ignored when i let him play for me once.

Ping to rotate an open tower minions are pushing toward? "Hur durrrr they're all up. lets take baron [ worlds biggest throw magnet] and not check or clear enemy wards, then get mad when we get aced in a fight because 4 of us got trapped in the pit immediately." then they blame the carry of the team for actually seeing the smarter objective... "clearly the only guy keeping us afloat doesn't know what he's talking about."

Ranting aside i think I've come to realize the inherent issue with bronze well lower elo in general...

this is a game about teamwork... this is not COD. you are not a one man show, because you will lose. the paradox here is the only way to win in bronze is to be a one man show. Because this is a play style everyone has adapted it's a pure ego fest where everyone tries to carry and if one teammate doesn't have a bazillion kills they must immediately be inferior. Teamwork is non-existent here unless you are EXTREMELY lucky - I mean luckier than Mr. McLuck-Luck on his Luckiest day of his Luckiest week When all the stars align.

This is a Deadly mentality to have. Bronze shouldn't be a one man show. and every game shouldn't be a one-sided Roflstomp. Even the games i win are a roflstomp and this isnt fun or fair to anybody. When everybody plays to carry, they all get an Ego. When everybody has an Ego they fail to see their mistakes, their flaws. I know my flaws. one of my biggest is CS it's good early game but it really falls off late game unless im an ADC. I compensate for this. I position well. I play smart. Nobody in bronze compensates.

Point being when your Ego is inflated your mistakes go unnoticed. and one of the biggest that i see is when to engage and when to disengage... SAeriously if i had a penny for every time i played a tank and engaged on an out of position enemy that could have sparked a won team-fight. only to be left on my own and then slaughtered by the rest of his team who eventually showed up 10 years later... I'd be rich. Sometimes i live. Sometimes i Die. and the response is always "Why'd you go in? I wasn't paying attention"

Im all for acknowledging ones own flaws. hell I'm far from perfect, but at the same time when I can say that, and Even still feel dragged down by my team... there's a problem.

So what can be done? IDK. this seems to be a strong mentality that you simply have to put up with.

-One thing i seriously think would help is allowing for ELo Matches. If you feel like tutoring and or winning a game you can queue up for a match and learn or teach a player is is better or inferior to you. at the same time you punishing lower elo players makes them realize their mistakes. and maybe even try to duplicate what you did. I say this because the only reason i got as good as i am now from where i started is because i got my ass KICKED. And i think being able to spot even more flaws in my playstyle as i play would be helpful to me and anybody else.

-Another thing. If a lower ELO player genuinely feels like they are unjustly stuck in wherver they are, why not allow for a full MMR reset. by this i mean Once a season allow for them to reset EVERYTHING, and start provisional matches just like the very first time they queued up for ranked in the first place. to balance this they 1: have to have a high set number of games played in that low ELO 2: If the player goes under 5/10 won matches in provisionals punish them by reducing gained LP for a small bit of time. 3: those same players who go below 5/10 are sent to B5.

these would serve to make it only for the most confident of players. players who truly believe they deserve a second chance

-Finally. Your suck should not be tolerated in game for other players. if you recieve enough reports you shouldnt be able to play in ranked. PERIOD. players who constantly receive negative attitude/ verbal abuse/ AFK / Refusal to communicate/ feeding reports in ranked games (that actually go through). should be banned from ranked. until they get a better attitude report in Normals, and this should be enforced. once their behavior improves then allow for probation games.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. the biggest problem with bronze is player behavior. fix that, you fix a lot of bigger problems with the DIVISION as a whole.

I do understand that this is a long and half salty post (as my fury wore off midway through writing it) but i seriously think there is a huge problem that needs discussing. So please do discuss. and since this is an open environment feel free to vent your ranked frustrations here as well. Also if i see a single post that equates to "Get Gud" then you clearly havent read what i had to say. and arent welcome in discussion.

I'm going to go ahead and say it's you still. You're not quite where you think you are. You have a 50% win rate. It's hard to move up when you break even. I went 4-6 in my placement and landed in b5. I'm b1 now and I sit at a 60% win rate. I think support it jungle us the best roles to play because if you're good and excel in those roles, you'll make someone else string by default.

Then why do I have a 67% win ratio with Sona bot? You have to change your mindset man. Pick a support that can sustain and damage. Lulu and Nami are really good in bronze as well. Leona and Braum falls into the scenarios you say, but the high damaging ones can carry your ADC.

http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/43119461#matches you only went positive 4 of your last 10 matches so you definitely aren't single handedly trying to carry all your games and others are screwing you up like you claim, granted that YI game you carried hard, or at least tried. Also trinity force on yasuo is not good, switch to IE might help.

Sorry for all the typos earlier. I was at the Arnold Sports Festival (bodybuilding expo) and was on my phone browsing during down time. The problem is just as you said, people don't always know what they are doing, or better yet, don't know what to do in every situation yet. I'm still victim of this as well. The biggest issues is a lot of people don't know what to do in terms of basic strategy. While I do strive for at least a 3:1 kda per game, I know its's not always realistic and the kda alone won't win the game, especially when I main support.

The reason I said support or jungle, is because those two have the most map control potential. If you're jungle and your team doesn't ward, you can swing by and place wards. this helps you and them, because they'll see ganks coming now and die less, and of course and you'll have extra vision. jungle and also carry the lane of his choice.

Supports keeps control of drag in check and potentially carry the adc.

Pretty much those two roles have the most potential to create opportunities for great plays and get objectives pushed. Which is what it's all about. Killing a lot and not dying doesn't get anywhere, especially if you recall after every kill, because we bronzies like to B if were are under 75% after a fight lol.

So my new advice is no matter what role you play. if you feel you're the strongest player on the team, you have to create opportunities to bring your team up with you.

example. Say you're playing top. You see enemy bot lane low and you've got your lane pushed out. You could let it them duke it out. or you could tele bot get two kills and a tower, and top maybe get a tower. sure you lose a tower, but you also got a tower an the three of you got 900 gold (split based on kills assists of course). Now you just but you and bot lane a head. Hopefully at that point they can move to top and help mid get ahead as well... and so forth. that's pretty much what i think carrying your team is. not really Killing all the people.
