Please stop wasting cool ideas and effort in giving him skins, specially if he has a good number by now and already has a similar-ish skin.

Sorry to hear about the disappointment about these all being skins and not a new champion.
In regards to PROJECT: Yi, we selected Yi as one of the PROJECT: skins for a few reasons.
Not sure why you are salty as Riot stated that the "mysterious 6th skin" was not for a new champ. They also stated that a new champ wouldn't come out until after worlds as they are focused on balance changes for it.
I guess being salty for not listing/paying attention is a good reason.
I'd have to agree with OP - Yi is just mechanically boring with his main thing being "I AA THINGS AND YOU CAN'T SLOW ME DOWN" with old AP build getting deleted instead of getting balanced (since it was ridiculous before)
I'm sad though because the skin he gets is SUPER FUCKING COOL, and I'd gladly buy it if it was for any champion other than Yi who I have no desire to play as.

You know what would've made a really nifty project skin? Project: Zyra. Lots of cool effects could be created there!
I have to disagree. I'm glad Yi got a new skin like this; i think his VO (both vanilla and Project) are cool and fun, and i'll contend that Yi remains one of the best VUs that Riot has done (especially since many of the newer ones are so mediocre). These project skins are cool, and i'm glad Yi got one; my only regret is that i'm now going to see a ton of him in my solo que games.
