What do the borders around summoner cards during game loading represent?

I see many cards, especially in ranked, with colors and wedges at the edge. So I know the colors represent the league, but thats all. Remember the red and yellow or something patch/badge you get on your summoner card during loading? What every happened to them? I mix them up with champion mastery icons now. Can someone explain everything you could see on the edges of a summoner card when the game is loading??
