What is with bad luck in Promos?

So many of my friends and myself have horror stories involving our promos games. I am currently a gold V player, climbed up from Bronze VI(another thing, i was silver last season, own 6/4 of my promos there and got placed in bronze???) Anyway, main topic, Lately I will get in a new tier after a hellish promos, I'll literally win every game from 0-100 points, and soon as I hit my promos, I get either afkers, dcers, or people that refuse to even talk and communicate at all. This happens quite often too! When I was in Silver 3, I hit my promos to silver 2 atleast 10 times, and I think only 2 promos did I not have atleast 2 games of afkers/dcers. So I have to ask, why does this only seem to happen during promos? I get that going up rank is supposed to be hard, but why does it seem that we intentionally get people that afk/dc during promo games? I also think that people should be given like 1 free game dodge per game. It's unfair for people who are in promos, and get a troll on their team. I've literally gotten in champ select and had somebody say "you were in my last game. fuck you. im going to troll and feed to fuck you over" (thank god somebody else dodged it) but there shouldnt be a penalty for that. Also, what are peoples opinions on having a way to report somebody from champ select? and not have to wait until after game to report?

well, I can tell you, I Just lost a lot of incredible games, too many trolls playing ranked at the moment, I always try to cheer up, stay positive and help other lanes, in two weeks got demoted from gold to silver.. im freaking depressed.. I had teams like, ( ezreal jungle, cait top, gp adc, etc etc etc ).......... I always report players, but people keep playing ranked just for trolling the rest of us who are trying to climb out.. I can't believe im playing with s3,s2 players in my mmr...

Some combination of:

Psyching yourself out. You're more stressed about the match and either playing worse or maybe getting edgy and combative.
Selective memory and small sample sizes. Unless you've taken careful notes, it's easy for it to "seem" like you always get screwed in promos when it's not really any worse than normal, or when it's not enough games to be statistically meaningful.
Players near promotion are stressed in general and it causes more infighting.
Players who just got promoted (but are still at about the same MMR as the people trying for promotion) are slacking off.
Selective complaining. The players who sail through a promotion series don't go online and ask "why are promotion series so easy?", so if you read the forums it sounds like there's some widespread issue with promos.
Players who have gotten up to the "V" division of a tier and then goof around because they don't care about going up further this season. If their MMR falls a bit they'll be in the same range as people trying for promos from the "I" division of the tier below.
People who actively sabotage other players' promos. It's rare, but it does happen, and it sucks.

I assume you mean one free (ie, not counting as a promo series loss) dodge per series, since otherwise this makes very little sense. The problem is people will abuse it for competitive reasons when there's not a deliberate troll present, which would make promotion series substantially easier than they are now.

The "I'm gonna feed and there's nothing you can do about it" player in pregame is a difficult problem to deal with. Any system that lets players bail on a match for completely arbitrary reasons will be abused, even if it requires a 4-1 vote -- "their comp is way better than ours and I'm in promos, everyone vote to dodge".

Also, what are peoples opinions on having a way to report somebody from champ select? and not have to wait until after game to report?

You can report things like this by filing a ticket with Support. Everything is logged even if the lobby is dodged. I'm hopeful the revamped Tribunal system will have some better or more streamlined handling for this.

happens to me, too. every single time i'm in promos, the game either crashes or lags. (good internet, good computer) every. single. time. this has been happening for the past 2 years.

People say i'm crazy but in reality, it's bullshit. i'm totally convinced now. game's rigged. and i have NO idea why.

does anyone else get the people who sabotage games that they've played with before?

i get matched up with this random guy named bakumanLoL for over a year now. he shows up in my promos once in awhile and he always throws the game. i have screenshots of this. it's crazy. i've played with him the 5th time now. (totally random person) the 4 other times have been happening over the year and a half. does he like, work for riot or something?
