North America and Latin America North

So I live in Michigan, and normally play on the NA server. Though my friend told me to try out the Latin America North server, and it lowered my ping by 40. Honestly this is kind of ridiculous. Instead of the NA server being hosted in California, shouldn't it be hosted in a more convenient location in like more East? Or just get another host, to have two?

The LAN server is hosted in Florida, instead of a more sensible location like maybe Costa Rica.

it practically is the east coast server...
