Parents Annoy Me

So for years my parents have been forcing me to leave matches for stupid reasons and almost every single leave I have is because of them (barring when the wifi goes out or something).

For example, a couple of minutes ago my parents said something to me but I couldn't hear them because an intense dragon fight was going on so they unplugged my computer. By the time I got it booted back up the game was over and I had another leave on my record.

I would never willingly leave a game but my parents think video games don't matter and are the dumbest thing ever so they try to keep me off them as much as possible... So glad I'm finally 18, moving out so I can play in peace...

I'm 21 years old and live away from home, but when I go back to visit my parents they still enforce the 10pm curfew and only 2 hours of computer time per day. I hate it, but you have to work with it. I find that I can get my computer time undisturbed if I do a couple chores and then let them know I'll be on the computer from x:xx-y:yy, and then get off the computer when you say you will. I know how much it sucks having your parents tell you what to do, but you really shouldn't just move out to have more time to play games. You'll be in for a hard reality check when you have bills to pay and responsibilities to fulfill and you don't have the means to accomplish them.

As a fellow 18 year old I encountered this alot but what are these reasons you have to leave the match for? I'll list some of mine.

  1. Chores (I'm on a farm so yeah I have work to do)
  2. Curfew (Yeah, passing school is a must and they'll take away rights)
  3. Poor Timing (Unexpected guests arrive or other things like that)

I mean when do you exactly start playing is the actual question and don't feel happy leaving the comfort of being at home because soon after high school graduation I'm stuck having to provide rent, gas, and food. In which requires me to work and less time for myself. And despite them thinking that video games are a waste of time try proving them wrong by succeeding in a career field so that they wouldn't have to relentlessly throw comments at you.

If you can't live with your parents annoying you, you need to grow up and harden the cr*p up punk.

Do you realize how expensive it is to live on your own or how much work it'll take you to do afford it? Your boss will annoy you more than your parents ever will and if you piss him off, you might not eat until you find another one who might annoy you more. Once you leave home, zero cr*ps will be given about your butt.

If it's any consolation, once it's your turn to be the parent, you'll probably annoy your kids too.

I'm 17, and when I first started playing, my parents would not want me playing at all. Even on weekends where I would have an open schedule and my friends were busy, they still wouldn't let me play. They would set passwords to lock me out of the computer, after playing for only one hour. We would always get into arguments when I would ask to play. So eventually I decided to take the compromise approach. I sat down at my desk one day, and with the persuasive writing skills English had taught me, I wrote a 2000 word letter (I got really into it) on reasons why video games are not harmful and why I should be able to play them. I brought up some really solid points that I would not have been able to think up of on the spot. After reading it, my parents had a new sight on the game. They didn't completely change, but now they are fine when I play. Most parents view video games from a concerned parent-like view, but if give them good reasons and show good evidence, they will see video games the way you see them. This way, I stopped arguing with my parents and regained my relationship with them, while also having enough time to play some league. You have more important things to argue about with your parents like relationships and college, not video games.

I say you should Honor your Mother and Father, and respect the ones who cared for you and raised you. Having parents who care about your well being and realize that there is more to life than league and other videos games is a good thing. It's better to heed the wisdom of your parents if they are in all honesty looking out for you (which it seems like they are because they care enough to force you stop playing).

I also recommend you DO NOT move out at 18 unless you parents force you. The real world isn't so simple as going to work coming home and playing league in your small cramped apartment. There's a lot more to life than that, and I hope you realize that.
