Ranked pick order issue

Hi guys recently noticed a ranked pick order issue I have been having.

  1. Every time I am last pick, I am generally last pick 2(even 3) games in a row. However when I am captain, it is only one game and never twice in a row.
  2. If I am captain one champ select, and someone dodges, the next champ select I am often not captain. However if I am last pick in a champ select, I am always last pick in the next champ select after a dodge.

I noticed this a while ago, but I thought maybe its just me(like how the traffic is always on your side but never on the other side). So I waited a couple of weeks and paid attention. Didn't note anything down concrete, but it's definitely an issue I've been having.

Yeah ok so it's a trivial thing but just thought I'd put it out there. I'm not ashamed to say that I very much prefer higher pick order, and as far as I know, I din't really do anything to deserve an unfairly skewed pick order position.

It may just be an extended bad luck run (3 weeks) so I'll start to note it down to confirm it 100%. Yeah, not much else to do in my life.

Edit : Few days later. Ok there is definetely a problem!!

Didn't that change recently? I thought the order was entirely random now.

The pick order of all modes is randomized due to the MMR of the people in the lobby. If you are higher then the others of course you will be higher up, and if not then you know.

It used to be that the higher MMR of the group was first pick and this really created too many problems. So you have a 1 in 5 chance for each spot, it's 100%, thats it. 20% for each spot. Quite a lot so you may be just getting that percentage for spot 4 or 5 more often out of bad luck.

wouldn't you rather be lower in pick order??

i know i prefer it...

first picking mid or top is absolute misery.

If something is 100%(or as close as computers can do, because nothing is ACTUALLY 100%) random, sometimes it will seem as though patterns are forming due to the nature of randomness. Random does not mean equal distribution, sadly. It's like how back in WoW during classic, my guild went 11 months without seeing a Black Sinew drop off Onyxia, but other guilds saw them almost every week.

When things are random, sometimes people will see patterns emerge simply because random does not PREVENT patterns from forming for some people.
