3v3 MMR

I realize this is a common issue, but just recently my Silver V 3v3 team has gone against 3 teams of Platinum skill level players in a row. I understand MMR is a complicated system that I not only know little about but I can safely say I know the reason that they were paired with my team, and that's because their 3's team was Gold V, close enough to be paired with us after our recent hot streak. Needless to say we got crushed, mercilessly. I can't say we're that good and we lost just because of the match up, though. We did have a chance in about the first 3 minutes, but it was swiftly and very very decisively a loss by 5 minutes.

What I'm getting at here is first to ask whether solo/5's MMR is taken into at least a little consideration in 3's matchmaking, and if it isn't can that idea be tossed around a bit. I realize cross-mode MMR cannot completely define someone's ranking in another map (it is different gameplay after all), but I do hope that these platinum/diamond/etc. level teams can be treated slightly differently to help out newish teams that actually start in 3's.

Thank for reading

I understand your frustration about the individual skill levels on the other team however. Your team is matched by the TEAMS MMR. Just because you play at a plat/diamond/ whatever at solo que doesn't necessarily mean you play at that level as a team.

You played a gold 5 team,. That means the system thought your TEAM was playing near that level. If that team was playing at a plat level it will rise to that rank and you'll never see it again. But as of right now its still a gold 5 team and the system will treat it accordingly.

My bronze IV team is awful, we know that and we play for fun. But, it's still obnoxious when you get placed against silver teams that have 2 gold/plat players and one bronze that gets carried. P.S. I've heard this has been happening so that high ranked players can, fairly easily, get their lower ranked friends up to gold for end of season. Which, I honestly don't have a problem with except my plat friends won't play 3's....
