Idea with the statues...
As I was looking on the RG Merch site, specifically at Ashe's statue, I was kind of thinking; Why shouldn't Riot Games allow us to order base-coated versions of the statues to paint ourselfs? I'd really think that this option would (A) be cheaper for Riot - paint it with something simple, like Chaos Black (supplied by Games Workshop), which is an all-in-one plastic base for paints and goes for 17 measly bucks a can. Second, I draw quite a lot but can't seem to get champions quite right except for those one-in-a-billion shots wherein I fuck up some other way... [zombie-nunu-tears] But yeah I really think that this would be a really good way to both get beast fan art AND get Rito some upgrades! Cheers! [slayer-jinx-catface]
Edit - I realized a very minor problem; Champions such as Ashe, Ahri, Taric or any other champ with portions that need to be opaque and colored can't be painted on. Solution? In the case of Ashe's arrows, simply have the color custom-ordered - say, if you were to make her into a Blood Moon skin - red. If you're trying to make a Arcade Twitch, you'd want his bottles to be a certain color. How do we mount such pices? Well, Ahri's orb or Taric's shoulder-jems could be a royal pain in the ass, but things like Ashe's Arrow and Abberosa's bow could simply be multiple solid plastic parts with snap-in points within certain parts. The bowstring would have the ass-ends of the bow attached to it as well. Note that when I say snap-in, I mean you have to dab a bit of glue on the end of the snap-in object - the shafts of the Arrow on Ashe's quiver, for example.
