Why do people on the internet ignore/don't respond back when you message them?

One of the most confusing concepts I can't understand. There are people on my buddy list who don't respond back when I message them. I get the same reaction regardless if they just got out of a game and are online. And yeah , i understand that people can be afk but being afk 100% of the time you're on league is ridiculous. I personally will try to respond back to others when they message me and if i sent the response late or read it late, i'd apologize to them. If you're going to ignore someone, why keep them on your friend's list? Anyone want to enlighten me on this?

I mean there could be numerous reasons as to why. Do you know them in real life or just because of league? If you are friends with them in real life just talk to them when you see them. If you only know them from league maybe they don't remember you, or just don't want to be bothered at the moment. Then again thy could be afk. I usually do stuff right after I get out of my game usually going to the bathroom if needed or getting me a drink.

Maybe they find you annoying but you're a good player so they like to duo with you on occasion.

If you message me I will respond. However if People just invite me to a game they can wait for an eternity.
