For those unfamiliar with the term a sandbox mode is a mode where you are free to do anything, where you can play the game the way you want to play it, imagine urf but with your own rules, that's a sandbox mode.

Now the problem is, Riot is looking at a sandbox mode the wrong way, here's a snippet from a post they made (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/riot-games/announcements/riot-pls)

"We’ve heard a number of player requests for a Sandbox Mode, with two main reasons: the first is trying out new content – which is something we value too. We want players to know what they’re getting and to be happy with the things they’re unlocking (we may investigate other ways to do this). The second is that players want to practice very specific skills without the constraints of a regular game. For this point, our stance is that sandbox mode is not the way to go. We want to make sure we’re clear: playing games of League of Legends should be the unequivocal best way for a player to improve. While there are very real skills one can develop in a hyperbolic time chamber, we never want that to be an expectation added onto an already high barrier to entry. On an individual level, we know this isn’t always true – some just want a space to practice flashing over walls without having to wait at least 3.6 minutes in between – but when that benefit is weighed against the risk of Sandbox mode ‘grinding’ becoming an expectation, we just can’t accept the tradeoff. We never want to see a day when a player wants to improve at League and their first obligation is to hop into a Sandbox. We do want to support your ability to grow in mastery, and there may be other avenues to do so, but not this."

They don't want to put a sandbox mode because they don't want that the way you improve at league, let me start of by saying this is a horrible way to shake it off, it would be insanely good for practice and it would also be insanely fun, you know, what a game is supposed to be?

If they added a sandbox mode it would produce the following benefits:

  1. Attract new players, with so many vast options, crazy possibilities, people could essentially make their own gamemodes, it would make league so much more approachable for people who aren't even competitive, now you say league is a competitive game? well guess what, there's nothing wrong with adding to it.

  2. Bringing back old players, nobody can deny how fun it'd be to do crazy shit like making your own custom champions, items, getting maxed out stats, teleporting everywhere, turning into monsters, blowing up the map, one hiting towers, making multiple nexus, so many possibilities... it'd be insanely fun.

  3. It'd be so good for practice, riot's whole "we want playing league the best way to improve is absolutely unfathomable... you would be playing league! and what do they think guides are???

  4. There are many more, but I'm only me so I can't think of everything!.

What riot aren't addressing and what I believe really needs to be answered:

  1. Why can't we have a sandbox mode? You stated because you wanted playing league of legends to be the best way to improve but if we are realistic then we'd still be playing league, it'd simply allow us to practice in a special environment that makes it a lot easier for us, do you not approve of people practicing cs in custom games either?

2 You never addressed the fun side of a sandbox mode, this would be so great, people play things like hide and seek all the time, they do it to add to the game, for fun, you only addressed it for an improving standpoint, so please, why not? honestly a sandbox mode would be so beneficial.

Just my opinion on a "sandbox mode"!!! I really hope you can all agree, please upvote for visibility, I'm not one to fish for these sorts of things but I really would like a statement from riot as their current one doesn't make much sense ;(, We need up votes for riot to notice, so please, get this to their attention!! <3

TL;DR: A sandbox mode is great and needed

Point 3 alone is the main reason people want it. With League always changing in terms of champions (their skills), items, etc. a Sandbox mode could help when drastic changes happen and people want to learn at their own pace. I think their excuse is a terrible reason to not even attempt to release it. Heck i think its the only MOBA that doesnt even have a Sandbox mode. that should tell you how out of the game they are with needed features! hopefully one day we will get this, but i highly doubt it will be any time soon!
