Did Riot sell our Summoner Names to advertisers?
Everytime I log on i have about 50+ friend requests and their all bots advertising one thing or another. I seriously think the company sold a list (Or part of it) to advertising companies.

I have two bots advertising to get me out of elo-hell. Ha! Jokes on you, I don't even play ranked.
They don't have to sell Summoner Names. They have an API for 3rd party developers to call data from their servers. This is how sites that track stats give us information.
Also, every time you play a game or add friends, you are added to other people's suggestion lists for invitations. Ever hear of 6 Degrees of Separation? It's a similar situation. A few contacts and a few games, and you're suddenly visible to a large mass of people in-client that you don't know.
you dont need to sell a list when there are sites that grab the summoners' statistics for years
Have the same problem. Not sure what the culprit is, but I wish riot would invesitgate and issue MAC/IP bans.
It's not advertising at all, it's just spammers trying to steal information or sell you something.
They don't need specific names when they can just have spam bots covering a few hundred or so sequentially generated names each second.

sometimes I accept those 'friend' requests for the sole purpose of waiting for an ad so I can report them.
