Feeling upset with the support "helping"

After reading Xelnaths' "Support Changes" threadI am feeling even more upset then before at the state of supports. To start, I am the kind of player most others hate. I enjoy slow lanes and aura supporting. I mained Sona all the way from S1 to the end of S3 preseason and all I've seen are nerfs after nerfs on her. Along with items that made aura supporting possible. item 3190 is now a jungler item. item 3050 is laughed at as a support item. item 3060 is barely even heard of. And all of this just because they wanted to force supports into a move "active" role. But they failed to understand that just because we don't stack AP or CDR or are at the front of the fight tanking, doesn't mean we aren't active. I picked Sona in a ranked game not too long ago and was yelled at for it because "She has no late game and she is useless anymore" simply because that isn't what the game sways towards these days. Of course, I went on to prove that Sona is still, if not just barely, alive and kicking. Her aura amounts are low and her mana costs are large with a small mana pool and they don't even look twice at her simply because they are too focused on making Thresh and Leona type supports the new thing.

All in all what I'm trying to say is, I'm happy you're going to make it easier for me to sit around and poke my enemy while my ADC farms, but remember, that isn't ALL of what supports do. It's not all warding, it's not all poking, it's not all tanking. There are still heals in the game, there are still auras and mana boosts, there are still utilities that aren't made for killing that are important. And I would like it to be noted that ever since S1 these have been going down hill. Just please, please, don't ruin what is left of team boosting supports that DON'T spend the whole game poking and fighting.

A lot of what they're doing for supports is actually giving more options to team boosting. The goal is to introduce some new aura items and/or items with strong support-oriented active effects to make teamfighting a more engaging experience overall.

The reason they're changing warding is because, and let's be real here, the current warding mechanics are not exactly healthy from a mechanics standpoint. Supports are expected to purchase & place the majority of vision for the team while also needing to be near their teammates for mutual protection. It's just not a healthy interaction there.

?? The criticisms you got make no sense. Sona's lategame is great, she has an aoe cc ultimate. Way better than stuff like Soraka imo.

Riot has a hell of a lot of time into trying to make support more appealing in s3 and s4, the shift away from aura items only happened because of the sightstone-rush meta. I think s4 holds nothing but benefits for Sonas.
