The REAL Issue With LoL
I don't post everyday here, but I tend to skim through to see what the "hot topic" or "newest grievance" of the day is, and it never fails there are numerous issues people have of varying degrees.
Some of these issues are legitimate, but I've started to learn (I've been here for quite a few years now) what's really wrong, at least in game.
- It isn't buddy queue (Duo Q)
- It isn't game balance
- It isn't "greed"
- It isn't "toxic players"
What I'm finding to be the biggest issue (in the games I'm playing, so I can only speak to that, despite this sounding rather large reaching, but hear me out) is: people seem to have forgotten how to enjoy this game.
With the rise in esports, ranked play, and so on, this game has become very competitive, and with that I think a lot of people have forgotten that this is firstly a game, and a fun game. But people are so focused on winning that they don't have fun UNLESS they are winning.
When I started playing, people messed around in custom games (mostly because it gave ip/exp back then so people played with friends like 3v3 in custom games and so on), normals were...normal and not taken as seriously (in a good way) and ranked was for "I'm playing serious" or "tryharding" as it is called now. Today I see people in urf raging about picks as if it is ranked, people baby raging and afk'ing because they didn't get the champ they wanted in all for one, people going on rant tantrums about x and y not banned in non-ranked games, and so on.
tl;dr people seem to not know how to enjoy this game anymore if they aren't winning the game, and it simply permeates into everything else. Not saying other issues aren't real issues, but people are far too competitive in the bad way now, and connect fun with winning, far too much to just enjoy the game.
