The New Two-Charge Smite

The 15 second window just makes it feel as though it'll make jungles needlessly fast in the jungle with things like Trailblazer (Purple Smite) as well as when people take Lane Smite, they'll never lose trades if they take Skirmisher's (Red Smite) because of the damage reduction and if they take Stalker's (Blue Smite) they'll be able to constantly slow harass their opponent with true damage. You can't tack it on to the summoner ability. It's going to be far too strong in that state.

What I suggest instead, is to implement a completely new smiting item (Yes, another one)

Harbinger's Hatchet Passive - Double-Tap: The user is able to hold two charges of smite, but can only smite Baron or Dragon once every 15 seconds. In addition, you will not gain additional benefits if you smite a large monster camp twice. (Maybe a debuff?)

Passive - Jungler: Blah blah blah

Make the background glow yellow, orange, or black. I do NOT want double-smite to put lanes in a worse place than they already are with the inability to fight back against things like that. If you do implement a double-smite, do it this way or don't do it at all.

I really like the idea of having two smites now that we have all the new smite bonuses and options , "I can take the raptor ward clear and still have smite for my gank top" " I can take a bonus and still be relevant for dragon" etc.. I think overall it will boost the options and ingenuity of combining buffs throughout the game.

My only issue is I don't see anything like "Cannot smite target twice for X period of time"

Like Dragon is supposed to be harder now but this will just increase the soloing of it thanks to trailblazer, and oh you were going to contest it? To bad i have two smite charges and you have one. Or as you said the bs from double smiting champions.

I think it will give some great options in the game and truly allow people to make the most of the new jungle buffs but it needs the restriction to stop it from just being abused

Riot confirmed you can only use one smite every 15 seconds. Yes, it's great for the jungle, but it's going to mess up lanes a ton. That's why I mentioned my own fix to the issue so that laners won't abuse it while Junglers can still opt in to have it. Blizzard wants tactical decision making? This is as tactical as it gets.

AH I hadn't seen riots confirmation of that thank you

Could you expand on how ti would cause the negative impact on lanes though? l've seen the champ smiting to be strong but not something unmanageable IMO a bigger issue would be the turrets offering no protection to laners (heck I've seen a kog who wasn't even fed tank inhib turrets in a dive and be fine after the fact)

I would just like to hear a bit more on your take thats all

To start, Blue smite deals true damage and slows. ON a champion that needs t close gaps, this is great for engaging or just for harassing "just because I can". It can easily put out more damage than ignite now (albeit over an extended period of time) Have you fought against Darius top with Blue Smite? I haven't, but I have played it a few times. I'm a complete nightmare for my lane opponent no matter who they are. I shouldn't be able to do it almost whenever I want. People need to be gated. Same with characters with little mobility. Site to escape, go back to lane, if they gank again? Smite to escape... Again.

Red smite reduces damage taken by a target by 20%. You can theoretically do this every half a minute, making trades always go in your favour. It may even become FoTM in the bottom lane for a bit for the AD to take Red Smite and the support to take heal.

I see bad things in the future if this change goes through.

I can see how this could change things, but why would this be a "bad" thing? Summoner spells have shifted before (barrier was the goto over heal for a long time).

Unlike Barrier, which was replaced by heal due to heals added utility, Smite is made specifically for Jungling.

Alright I get it, TBH the only lanner i've seen take smite so far is a top lane WW for obvious reasons .

This saddens me I feel like this would be a great change for the jungle overall but I see what you mean now in terms of lane abuse. IThink there could be a way to help offset this more? Im going to dedicate some time to brainstorming a way that could help keep smite in the jungle but not stop people from doing unconventional jungles at the same time.

Only thing I can realistically think of so fari is a limit of 1 smite per team

but that has huge issues in and of itself first off it enforces the meta and says FU to anyone who wants to try duo jgl

and just imagine the shenanigans (intentional AND accidental) in champ select...

Wish I could bump threads here to spark discussion.

This sounds like a good idea.
