Why isn't there a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place like in every other major sport in the world? Winner takes it all is not exciting! Second and third place are a worthy achievement and should be honored.
Because there's no point in having a 3rd place match when they could give both semifinal losers the same amount in prize money.
Doesn't really matter, Riot is doing so much for us already in terms of profeesional League of legends, that said themselves they don't make any profit from it and often only break even but that they don't care because they started off wanting to create a better esports scene and as long as they do that, they don't need profit, really honorable of riot if you ask me
