Your Favorite Unconventional/Underplayed Support(s)

When I first began supporting, I stayed firmly inside the box with my picks. First , then . Tried out , but my skill shots were lacking. Tried out , but I was completely out of my element. and were the only two old standbys that I found any success with, and I still never felt any better than average with either.

Then came , the lovechild of Thresh and Leona, and the king of CC. Forgot he even existed, given how rarely he popped up, until he saw play recently in LCS. That inspired me to test him out, first in the jungle, where things didn't quite click, and then as a support. Once I learned his mechanics a little more, nobody was getting to my ADC, and nobody was getting away from them. For the first time, I felt like I was making a real impact as a support.

Up next was , who I hardly ever see anymore. Free week let me test him out, and I ended up with a higher mastery level with him than most of the champions I'd played at that point just testing him out during that free week. He has about everything you could want in a support, minus a heal. His passive alone can be a guaranteed kill if you get your stacks on them. His W and E together can shield you and your ADC from virtually anything. And his ult can be devastating.

Tonight I gave support a go. I'd already gone top, mid, and jungle with him, so why not support as well? Finished 12/10/25 in a losing effort that could've been an easy win had it not been for my friend's usual stupidity, which I thought he'd started to rid himself of, and my team feeding and then the enemy . We almost withstood 2 barons and the match ran nearly an hour. Sure, that's just one match, but I think I'm gonna try to make this a regular thing now. Like with or support, I can always morph into another carry if the situation calls for it.

I also tested out in co-op and her shield and poke were quite promising. Plan to take this to normals at some point soon, in addition to , , and potentially . And I'd love to get some more ideas for unconventional/underplayed supports to test out.
