The dreaded 1v1

What is it with people in this game? It seems like every few games I'll end up with someone suddenly challenging another person to a duel. Maybe it's just a low elo thing, but I seriously find it annoying to deal with. Most of the time it isn't even a fair match up.

Fed lv 18 Lee Sin at full build vs lv 16 Kha'zix with only 3 items. Honestly where's the fairness in that? At what point do people think "Man you know what would make me look tough? Challenging their already losing team member to a fight. That'll show them how good I am."

Now, I can understand if you like dueling in general, and it's a fair match-up. But from what I've noticed, that's rarely the case. Even then, a lot of the time these duel requests happen at the end of a game, when someone is about to lose. Those sudden last words "Wait don't kill nexus! 1v1 me!" And the worst part is that even your team will sometimes bitch at you for "being a coward" and not accepting that duel.

Perhaps it's just the low elo in them speaking. But personally, I have never wanted to stop and give the enemy team a chance to recover from a certain loss. No way in hell I'm going to "1v1" when they might just group on me and kill me, then counter push and take our nexus.

But no matter how stupid, people seem to be obsessed with this idea that a 1v1 is always fair and will make them look cool.

For the record though, it just makes you look like an ass when you challenge someone to a 1v1. This isn't COD.

I've only seen that happen once, and that was while I was playing on a low level account. Some guy just started flaming his team in the post game lobby and when I called him on it he challenged me to a 1v1. I gladly accepted of course, because I saw how poorly he played and I wanted to shut his mouth, but even then the idea of it was pretty stupid.

It actually happens in my games a lot as well. One person will get fed and be super arrogant while their team is losing. That singular fed person will proclaim that his team sucks. He will typically get a response from the other team stating that it's a team game and that him being good is irrelevant in the face of his team still losing. He will then proclaim something to the effect of "STFU my team is trash, I could 1v1 all of you, get on my level scrub." To which I'll usually tell him to go back to playing Call of Duty where his kind of toxic thrives and he can 1v1 whoever he wants, with his Pro MLG 360 quick scoping skills.

Not a low elo thing. I only have 1 total ranked game and 300+ normal wins, I have only seen somebody talking about a 1v1 like 5 times total.

Because certain champs Fiora MasterYi Nasus are only good in 1v1 situations, their teamfighting is piss-poor unless they are fed. And with the splitpush meta getting nerfed out of relevancy, these guys need something to keep them feeling useful.
