"This replay has expired"

Hey, I know the new replay system is still pretty new and all but I just have one complaint at the moment. There's been a couple of times now that I planned to go back and record some cool plays, but all replays expire whenever there is a patch. Since us players don't always know exactly when the patches are going to occur... I've lost some really cool gameplay. From now on I guess I should make sure to record right away instead of putting it off for later. Anyway, my point in bringing this up is that hopefully in the future riot will be able to back up replays prior to a patch, or at least give a little more forewarning. Yes I want to be spoiled.
