How to avoid getting bored of the game?

Okay so I'm fairly new to League of Legends, as I've only been playing a couple of months, and this last month specifically has been the only one where I actually play more than one game a sitting. I've pretty much fallen in love with the game. I find it so fun to play, and being able to party with friends has made it that much better. However, I've heard several stories of people simply getting burnt out, and quitting the game altogether. Is this completely unavoidable if you want to continue the game with a competitive mindset? People tell me that since they play all kinds of champions in all kinds of roles on a casual level, they don't get bored. See I want too get better, so I've decided to play strictly middle lane and have been practicing a pool of champions I want to get good with. Plus, I do want to be competitive in ranked. Any tips on not getting sick of the game? Thanks in advance. (:

Edit : I usually play around 2-5 games a sitting, up to 12 on weekends because I have no life. Edit to my edit : http://wasted-on-lol.com/stats/na/theminez/ I have too much time on my hands...

as long as you enjoy improving, you can never stop improving in this game as it always changes.

It all comes down to how many champs you have on a LARGE degree, being able to play various ways can keep things fresh Presently I have learned enough to at least decently play 25-30 champs, so it helps to be constantly learning new champs.

Honestly, the hextech rush for keys and crates made the game not boring for me, otherwise I wouldn't touch the Rift at all.

Now I have to try hard for a chest once a week and spend the rest of the week playing aram for key fragments.

Playing mid is actually really good for this. Play a large variety of champions and playstyles, such as burst mages, poke mages, AP assassins, AD assassins, utility mages, or even a tank (Naut and Cho'Gath are fun picks here).
