Preseason ranked

I was wondering if preseason ranked counted towards your overall mmr and what not for next season. Will it help your placements if you do well in preseason?

From my understanding of past seasons, preseason ranked does count toward your mmr and what your mmr will start at when you begin your promos next season. So say you ended the season in bronze 1, but climbed to silver 3 during preseason. Since you made this climb after the season ended you would not be eligible for the silver rewards, but your mmr to start season 6 would be around silver 3 rather than bronze 1.
