So you just get into a new division. Well you lose your next match and get demoted. You just lose, and get sent back. Now you have around 70 LP, and you need 100 to qualify for a series. You win your next match. Now you have around 95 LP. You win your next match. Now you're qualified for a series. You win your next match- and you're placed into the next division at 0 LP. There are no "loss divisions"- you don't reach 0 LP and have a match to determine if you should be demoted. The ratio is just too extreme. You lose LP at an incredible rate. I've went 6 matches all victories, and got it all set back by 2 losses. Why even bother playing at this point? Why work hard to climb up in the ranks if a single match can erase the progress of hours of gameplay? If I go 5 games without losing, I've only earned around 60 LP. If I lose my next match, it can drop down to 20. And if I win 4 straight games after that- I'm at 50 LP. Now my W/L ratio is 9W-1L, a 90% win rate: and I'm losing LP. If a person is winning 9/10 of their matches, they shouldn't be getting demoted.

5-6 might be optimistic, but 2-3 loses its my experience.

Hmm... I was only demoted once, my first season of ranked.

I went 8-2 and got placed silver 1 and 0LP. Lost 6 straight, getting demoted after the 6th lost. So I was protected for 6 games at least.

I've since lost the first game after every promotion I've made and never been demoted on it, but I can't speak to how many games it takes. I only know I didn't get demoted 5 times that first time.

It doesnt matter- aren't you paying attention. You can go to your next division. Get 5 wins- and then be demoted after 2 losses. A total of 7 matches while in your division- and you're demoted.

No you can't...

If you get to a new division and get 5 wins, you'll be at around 75-100LP. After two losses you'd be at like 30-70LP. Definitely not getting demoted.

In order for 2 losses to even get you to 0 LP after 5 wins, you'd need to be losing 2.5x as much LP as you're gaining (so e.g. getting 10LP per win and losing 25LP per loss). Even then, you'd STILL need to lose a third match (a loss AT 0LP) in order to get demoted. If you're losing that much more than you're gaining, you're in a division well above your MMR and are lucky to be there at all, let alone climbing (and if you keep up winning 5 of 7 you'll bring your MMR up to your division and stop the trend).

All else aside- If you get demoted- That's one defeat. You can't reach 100 LP with one victory after a defeat. So two victories, and you enter a series. Win your series, and your back where you started. That's a steep difference. Especially when you consider the length of a game. It takes 3 victories to atone for that one loss. And the new champ select forces you into unwanted roles, multiply that by the potential 4 players on your team who also got bad roles. Then you have the occasional player who trolls. Solo queue is being destroyed. I'm getting more games with players who can't play their role because it's not the role they play, and more people just trolling because they don't care anymore with this new system. And I have to work hard to make some of these teams even co-operate, I do really well with teams that work together. I rarely lose a game that went well for both teams. It's either we snowball them, or they snowball us. More people playing mid that don't know wtf an MIA ping is, and ganking bot for the 5th game in a row you've been forced to play support. And you're used to it by now, but your ADC isn't- because your ADC wanted to play Top. Then when you lose a game because of this stupid snowballing- and you're support so you're guaranteed to die the most- you lose massive amounts of LP. Then you win a game because you finally get Jungle. Then you get Support again, and you pull through for a victory. Then support again, and you're the only one who picks a tanky champ- then you lose and you have less LP than what you started with. 2 Losses is greater than 3 Victories. And when you add series matches, and demotion matches- the difference gets stupid.

All else aside- If you get demoted- That's one defeat.

You can't just ignore the multitude of defeats it took to get your MMR low enough to be in range of demotion.

Yes, it sucks when you're falling down the ladder. In the end, if you play with a focus on learning and improving, you'll hit the appropriate spot and start climbing.

I also agree that promo series kind of suck - I just don't think it has anything to do with demotions. I think any artificial protection (on demotions) or boundaries (on promotions) is silly, just let us be at our true MMR. Why should a player in gold 5 with silver 4 MMR get season rewards for playing at silver 4, while a player in silver 2 with gold 4 MMR doesn't get season rewards when he's playing at that level?

you're only protected from Silver-Gold or something similar.

Silver 2 to silver 1 you're protected for 1-2 matchs

It takes one loss to get you demoted, and three wins to catch back up
