Female Population Increase in LoL?
Is it just me, or are females starting to play LoL more now? Sure, they are still a rare breed... But the female community seems to be growing a bit more.
Finally, some diversity in LoL.

Female is a gender. Not a breed.
We've always been playing. On my other games I play I always use a neutral or male sounding IGN because the second they find out your're female you normally started getting harassed by creeping male players. League is getting better-I started S4 but you still get the "baby" messages and other crap that I wish I didn't have to deal with from some players. I have met some cool people on here though that don't care about my gender and I've met a lot of nice (and good) women as well. If you check out groups like League People there are a lot of female members.
It takes a special kind of illiteracy to take offense from "rare breed."
I'm offensive, I find this a female.
Yeah there is more women thay you may think. look at my usename. Do you rly think im a man ? nah.
I think there's always been a respectable number of girls playing LoL, it's just that now you might be noticing them more. I know I regularly play and skype with one girl and a few guys.
I have been playing league for like 5 months and i haven't played against or many female players . except for myself . Maybe its because i just started playing. But i hope more female players come.
I really don't see why gender is such an issue here. I have always based my opinions of a person on their personality rather than what they are.
Kaceytron was brought up earlier. I think she is a horrible representation of the female demographic. Omitting her wardrobe and overall skill as a player, I just find her to be a whiney complainer who is very close minded in how she goes about the game. I wish streamers like sllverlady1 got more publicity because atleast with sllverlady1 she plays the game moderately well, has a pleasant personality, has zero tolerance of sexist remarks and plays with some really funny people such as "BringMePeterPan". When I was learning the support role I watched her to learn how to play the role better. The other streamers that were mentioned I haven't seen enough of them to make a valid opinion of them.
The one thing I want to see changed is that female players are only good in the support role. I have seen them do well in other roles but common opinion says otherwise. It probably doesn'thelp that there are no problem female gamers besides Remillia (who is transgendered). There was an all girl team in the qualifiers or something but they preached this "down with men!" Hate speech which did not help the general opinion of female gamers in the LOL community.
So to the other female posters here, are you stereotypedon a regular basis as being unskilled or only good in the support role? And do you know of any female players who you wish would get more publicity for playing this game? And what do you think of Kaceytron who is arguably the most popular female league player?
I despise girl gamers. They're whiny, petulant, self-entitled, brats who play the victim and think the whole world owes them a favor because they have an extra leg on one of their chromosomes and play video games. Their streams are electronic peep shows that have little to do with games and more to do with how much skin they can get away with showing so hyper hormonal boys and pervy older men throw money at the screen.
Women gamers, on the other hand, totally rock. They're friendly, mature, confident, and amazingly they actually play the game for fun. Imagine that. Playing this game for fun instead of going on red-bull and testosterone fueled keyboard smashing rage sprees every game.
Unlike girl gamers, women gamers don't feel the need to announce their gender to the world every match. They don't have a webcam pointed at their cleavage. They don't twerk for guys who put up $10 on a Twitch stream. And they certainly don't play the victim card.
Girl gamers may be on the rise, but women gamers are still very rare. Can't say I blame them, given the target demographic here. But it would be awesome to have a women gamer team take LCS. :)
"more"? No, not really.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone by my post (responding late), was just a bit astonished by the... emergence(?) of females. I somewhat agree with Zen Fury here, but I don't pay attention to cleavage and whatnot. Not to mention, not all "girl gamers" are indecent, while some women gamers can be indecent as well (generalization/fallacy). And yes, I can admit that I am part of the "male breed" as well, in the hopes that we can equalize ourselves by my admittance.
I'm admittedly just as disgusted by stereotypes, and I never intended to bring any of that in here. I might be astonished that there are more females (in general) playing LoL, but I don't think anything else will change in the community otherwise.
As long as they're not toxic, I could honestly care less how they dress (especially considering I don't watch streams from anyone). This was brought up just to see how the reaction of others was, and thus far it doesn't seem to be negative... On the other hand, we seem to only have mature people in this particular thread.
I like to think that that the female breed is starting to play more because of influential streamers like HelenaLive, Kneecoleslaw and of course the wonderful and magnificent professional girl gamer Kaceytron showing that girls can actually be good at gaming. It's a phenomenon worth observing in the study of the female species.
Ive invited 3 of my friends and we always play together :3 its always kind of funny when we invite someone into our skype call.
I met 2 other women in a game the other day. I had no idea they were also women, by their user names, until I joined them on curse. Its nice to see! I think there are a lot more of us ladies then you would think.
