So I own gangplank and play him occasionally for fun. I saw he got his rework and tried him out a few times in custom games to see what he's like, I was satisfied and didn't play him after that.
Now Riot announces that everyone who plays GP IN A MATCHMADE QUE during the event gets a free skin... after disabling him.
So I don't get the free skin now because I can't play GP. Nice one Riot.

Gangplank will be enabled before the event ends on August 10th, so you'll still have time to earn your skin! :D Also, if you played him at the beginning of the event before his was disabled, in a match made queue, you've already earned the skin.

kinda off topic but.... I like this new look for GP (referring to the new default) but his in game visual is kinda funny the way his beard curls up. The older versions the beard curl thing worked for the model. But its kinda funny looking on this visual. any way you could put that feedback in the appropriate place?

I noticed that when the bases were changed, his skins like minuteman and sultan got the new base's VO and it noticeably does not fit. Would it be possible to get the captain VO on these skins? It fit really well before he was disabled, but now the visual and audio themes are clashing heavily and it doesn't need to.

Riotmoonstones1 votesNope! You don't have to own him beforehand. You can play him F2P, and as long as you own him before the event ends, you will receive the Captain Gangplank skin. Just make sure the game you played wasn't a custom. :]

Katey since I know you're in relations with the skins department can I suggest something for captain GP, I'd actually appreciate it if your champion portrait in the ingame HUD when in using this skin was captain Gangplank's still instead of the new gangplank splash. Similar to the cases with spirit guard udyr and pulsefire ezreal.
