I remember that with a lot of my mains I ended up having close to immediate synergy while (almost) everything felt fluid pretty much straight away when I started playing them. Especially if their playstyle and character were to my taste.

I was looking for a Mid mage. I had seen Lux played and understood and liked the abilities from seeing and reading about them. I had asked about and tried many other champs and couldn't get the hang of them easily due to little experience. However, I felt good enough about Lux that I bought her without even having had the opportunity to try her in game. I played her, and I was able to understand the abilities and use combinations which where intuitive.

I believe one will click with the champion when it's powerful and complex enough to be challenging, but one can understand the kit and be able to work it. It's not that we don't have to overthink it, but that we don't have to rack our brain to understand it.
I find evidence of this in that I have tried some champions earlier when I had been playing a couple of months or so and I didn't like them, found them not powerful or too complex. Then I have tried them again 3-4 months later, with more experience and I did get along with them much better. It's that now I know things I didn't know then, for example the concept of "stacking" or how some champions have abilities that depend on having used another before, etc... and that seemed complicated to keep track of how many shots I've fired, that I have to use Q before E is really powerful, etc.

I don't main her but, vs every other Kindred on release she just clicked for me, and she will always hold a special place in my heart.
is also one, I really enjoyed playing him, and I did really well(until I started getting countered and felt like I'm shit at this game)
and of course like every other player out there rn (Iwantthatdamnskin,IhavetheRPready), Lux was a champ who clicked for me, my friend always bullied me for throwing Q before her E, "but your E slows" well, I still did good with her, no matter what.
