I always go E first regardless of the match up I have since I can get it to a 3sec cool down sooner and that's awesome, then I go Q

I mean, damage is king with Riv but you've already really shafted the damage you have by not q maxing right off the bat.

Utility ends up much better and you can still deal out the pain by weaving between Q's and whatnaught with W max so it always made more sense to do that after and then Q last in such a case. I dunno though, I think it probably would depend on playstyle yeah?

Going Q first always felt like you're being really cocky and arrogant, plus it's what people expect you to do, if you max E first you can absorb so much damage that you can just piss people off so much quicker, but to eac their wn I suppose.

Black cleaver is always gucci. Do you rush essence on crit riven for the CDR or do you feel the passive would be a waste?

The Mana Iceborn gives is useless on Riven i'd take Trinity Force if it offered more attack and didn't have mana I don't like taking an item and wasting it's stats for any champion, and i'd take Essence if it offered a little life steal I take 14% Crit Runes when I run Crit Riven so all I need is the IE most other Crit items on Riven kinda stink because they don't deal enough Damage and Attack speed on Riven isn't the greatest all you need for Attack speed is Ghost blade

The big problem with item 3071 rush is it delays Riven's powerspikes for a long time and only gives 50 AD. My preferred build looks something like this:

item 3133 > item 1333 > item 3812 > item 3077 > item 3142 > item 3074 > item 3139 > Defensive item if needed or armor pen.

Against a team with heavy tanks I just replace Ghostblade with Cleaver.

Regarding E max, I almost never max it first unless I am already losing lane and need the extra CDR to survive in long fights. Usually I start Q then W to get an early kill using the Blue Cheese Strat before maxing Q then E.

Out of curiosity, what is your favorite combo?

Let us logic this out:

We have two possibilities for RaptorKarr:

Either they are a velociraptor, which died out millenia ago and thereby they are extinct and lose by default.

They are any number of species of bird which prey on other birds. Following this logic, Malicious Metal is not a bird, and therefore Raptor would not hunt Metal while Metal can be any number of high-speed projectiles meant to shoot down birds.

Therefore, in all cases, Malicious Metal would win. The science is flawless.

Both are made out of metal alloys, which Metal has dominion over. He would be able to attack from the inside.

I don't think I've ever lost to Riven as Morde. I've even started rushing item 3041 anytime I'm leaning against a Riven, just because I know it'll be fully stacked.

is it because morde tends to be able to fight riven? I've only laned with mordekaiser one time since the rework (the thing terrifies me to play him anymore and I'm still popping around trying roles) and she tried to all in me level 1, she died because I started q thinking "she's so going to all in me" then she ended up stuck under tower getting poked forever because I'm dumb and can't manage the wave properly.

or is it because you wouldn't want to bring harm to someone you've already wronged by spying on and revealing her identity.

(although seriously how is the riven vs morde matchup?)
