When people beg me not to ban Lee Sin.

The real reason to ban Lee Sin is revealed: So your teammates don't fail play him. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Mira Arya Enthe12 votes

This. I beat him on Shyvana so it isn't even salt. It is just a distaste for seeing him constantly.

Malicious Metal7 votes

Hell, if he jumps in he eats a Mace and my main Jungle Puppy beats him too.

But he's everywhere and it's getting boring.

Then why don't you play jungle and use other champs? [zombie-nunu-bummed] Instead of beging for him to be gutted not for the sake of balance but to suit your fancy.

Supreme Senpai693 votes

Enemy Lee Sin is still Lee Sin

Cowseed2 votes

Well from a math perspective you q-ing for jungle reduces lee's chance of being in your game to 21%. And if you still can't handle a 1 in 5 chance of playing against him just ban him if your really that tired of seeing him. Lee ain't OP so I can't understand all this unjustefied nerf requests.

It's bad when people start bandwagoning a champ because they all have a biased opinion they're strong. It's a lot worse when they start band wagoning the champ just because they're tired of seeing him. Not every problem like this is something that riot should solve. If 50% of the players like a champion and the champion isn't broken then riot shouldn't have to gut the champ and punish 50% of the players because the other 50% don't like the champ.

Supreme Senpai692 votes

Shouldn't have to change your main role to avoid seeing a champion. He doesn't need nerfs people are just tired of seeing him in every game. I think buffing other junglers that underperform would help that personally but I don't work for Riot or see all the data

Cowseed2 votes

YES!!! 'I think buffing other junglers that underperform would help that personally' I agree

Velzard of Koz6 votes

He's overloaded which may take power budget from parts you may consider so weak nerf to them would be "gutting". Removing unnecesary tools which would make him less popular and less generalist might make space for buffing other parts (not that I'd know about anything except for one).

So in simple words - changing Lee Sin in a way that he won't be so general and popular doesn't neccesarily mean it would gut him. Many players on Boards might propose it, indeed, but balance team might choose to rebalance him rather than gut him.

MM expressed that he's annoyed by his popularity, I don't know his exact opinion on Lee Sin, but in this particular topic, he hasn't said nerfing (or "gutting" as you put it) would be the solution he's looking forward to.

Cowseed1 votes

So what you are saying is to make him just as good but just make him worse to satisfy those people who don't like seeing lee sin players having too much fun. Yeah yeah I might be putting some words in there but seriously what your saying is to force a champion to be less popular. That to make people like something less you have to make it worse. At least in some aspect. This change is what's unnessasary. Not parts of his kit. Lee is basically the equivalent of a red mage in final fantasy. Beeing able to do a little bit of everything. He even scales like a red mage. Unless you grinded him up early, the equivalent of being fed, he's only going to be a waste of a party member. But take anything out of a red mages spell book, not the crappy spells like sleep and silence that are completely situational, the equivalent of lee's true vision, then he's going to be quite crappy.

Lee is a likeable champion to play because he let's you feel like bruce lee while you're on the rift. Same with how yas makes you feel like some bleach captain when you land his ult. How about instead of nerfing the only champion in the jungle that people really like and buffing others until they are broken and take lees place as the most popular jungler. What if we just made everyone fun to play. Like how people might start playing Zac because he looks kind of fun. The game is competitive, yes, but people do want to enjoy yourself.

People could also just be following lcs players. Lee isn't even OP there he's just viable and has good utility. You need to look at this straight. The jungle role has always sucked in terms of diversity. There is always 1 champion in the jungle that is 'broken' or 'OP'. If Lee isn't Popular then someone else will be, get mobbed on boards, get nerfed then Lee becomes popular again.

The 'spotlight' argument is a horrible one. Every champion shouldn't 'have their time in the spotlight'. They should just be able to be picked. Period.

Now on my last note the jungle is fine in diversity. Why do I say this? Because if no one complainst about three champions having a 86% pick rate in bot Caitlyn Ezreal and Lucian (who's play rate is 2% behind lee's), then you're 'tired of seeing this champion' argument is very poor.

http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/

Velzard of Koz2 votes

What if we just made everyone fun to play.

Yes. Let's give everyone illogical tools ("We reworked stealth in Assasin Update so that invisibility is easier to balance as it cannot be revealed- OH look Lee Sin has AoE True Sight that sticks to the target, KEK"), requirement to hit single skillshot to burst down around 60% HP while still maintaining sustained damage Diver status supported by AS steroid and Lifesteal/Spellvamp steroid, two mobilities in basic kit (meaning they are of smaller CD) and effective disengage in case they still fuck up. Welp, If you think Lee Sin's design is healthy and it's the others that are supposed to be overloaded to his level, then I actually agree, I will gladly watch people struggle against champions who are confused as to what class they belong to and what weaknesses and strengths they should derivate out of it, since that appears to be fun. If all champs will get the treatment, I am looking forward the mobile no-delay Vel'Koz, will gladly play it. Others will cry.

As for your comment about Luc, Ez and Cait. Firstly, you mentoin them having 86% pickrate. Did you just seriously simply added their pickrates together? That's supposed to be argument for what? Pickrate is something that is to be discussed separately, this way it looks like you are claiming there are three botlane carries per game and they are picked at once in 86% of games. If we combine this way pickrate of top 3 Junglers we get nearly 70% which isn't that far either.

So now individually for your list. Ezreal has nearly half of Lee's pickrate - how is that close enough? Caitlyn by 5% higher than Ezreal. The only one who is picked as much is Luc who is known for jumping out and in meta according to items - and people don't need to complain about him as much because unlike Lee, who is immune to significant nerfs, Lucian will get nerfed either directly or via itemization (BotRK).

And you entire argument here is that people don't complain about Ez, Cait and Luc while they don't think Lee is okay. I think it is an achievement to miss all the posts complaining about Caitlyn's safe playstyle and Lucian's brokeness and Ezreal's item-abusing (Ezreal is least complained about, maybe because of that terrible winrate?).

Going by link you provided and their definition of "popularity" as pickrate: Lucian has 30%ish (usually below) pickrate for 4 patches in row, last time he was top in 6.14. Cait has 25%ish (usually below) pickrate for 5 patches in row, one patch pause, then slightly better for 3 patches, before that she was top in 6.11. Ezreal has 25% - 30%ish pickrate for 5 patches in row, one patch pause, then 25%+ for 4 patches, one patch pause, then keeps around 25% for 2 patches before being kicked out of top twice, then following the trend. He's probably the biggest offender in this aspect yet his winrates don't seem overwheling.

Now for Lee Sin. Top pickrate 22 patches in row, one patch pause, 7 patches in row (still beats any of the above), two-patch pause, continues beyond archive. Do I need to say anything else?

Cowseed1 votes

:/

You've started ranting. You're doing the same thing everyone else does. You're only listing the things the champion can do whick is extremely unfair in Lee's case as he, as I stated before where you completely glossed over, he can do every thing well but he's not really good at anything. He doesn't stand out in any particular way. Ever other champion has something niche they can do where if put into a situation they can shine brightly. Lee just has a persistent glow. Like a red mage who can do something in every situation but can't take advantage of specific situations as well as others can. He also falls of late game unless he builds tanky. But if he build soley damage then he's going to basically blow up late game as he needs to get in range to fight.

I don't know why you're talking about a mobile vel'koz. That's Lee's Identity so why would riot rework another champion to be like one they already have?

And about the ADCs you're glossing over it with quite a bit of bias. Firstly, you used champion GG which only uses platinum+ games. The page I sent you uses gold+ games. That page also showed instead of elise being the 3rd highest play rate jungler it's Yi with a 14% play rate and 2nd is graves with 15% playrate. Adding these together it is 14.7+15.8+37.7%=68.2% play rate which is a 18% difference from the 86% I gave you earlier. That's kind of a big gap.

The thing about Lucian you forgot when he's strong he's oppressive as most people say. THAT'S why he's nerfed. Lee is always balanced at 50% or less. Lucian goes over 50 however. Like he is right now, at 51%. There hasn't really been a 'Lee is Broken!' period in league but their have been with lucian.

Now for Lee Sin. Top pickrate 22 patches in row, one patch pause, 7 patches in row (still beats any of the above), >two-patch pause, continues beyond archive. Do I need to say anything else?

Yeah this was the case when his play rate was 46% as well. This just shows people just like to play him dude. Probably that's why riot don't nerf the dude like they do lucian where his play rate spikes with winrate.

http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/stats/leesin http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/stats/lucian

Also I don't too much trust champion.gg because of the exclusion of stats to platinum+ and there are claims that their stat's aren't that accurate. The same was said about op.gg excluding the platinum+ exclusion. Never used op.gg for stats though.

And you entire argument here is that people don't complain about Ez, Cait and Luc while they don't think Lee is >okay. I think it is an achievement to miss all the posts complaining about Caitlyn's safe playstyle and Lucian's >brokeness and Ezreal's item-abusing (Ezreal is least complained about, maybe because of that terrible winrate?).

My argument here is that there is a bandwagon and people are being carried along by the large scale of its momentum. The problem with Lee Sin is that people are using him for upvote farm. Everyone just says how they are seeing him in every game, make some meme/joke about it then just cash in on those ever soul-currupting upvotes. The same thing happened with Cait where everyone just made post about her day and night just to get noticed. I mean really, why would you make a clone post of someone elses when you could simply just upvote theirs. It's the same thing with these 'unpopular opinion threads'. Now you have people trying to profit off the unpopular opinion threads.

There also haven't been any posts about Lucian because he's not a hot topic. If a Lucian post gets front page then there will be 5 more in the same hour.

If the boards really hated Lee then they probably would be complaining about how Lee *Feels better than other junglers. I mean, I'm subscribed to a metaslave - pantsaredragon, and he doesn't play Lee Sin and he built redemption on hecarim when everyone was saying it was the most broken thing in league.

Well that's what I have to say anyways.

Velzard of Koz1 votes

You've started ranting. You're doing the same thing everyone else does. You're only listing the things the champion can do whick is extremely unfair in Lee's case as he, as I stated before where you completely glossed over, he can do every thing well but he's not really good at anything.

And what I meant was that I don't think he really "isn't good at anything". I think he still does the job decently enough for what all he has. And I clearly said - if you think he's balanced like that and others should reach his level, it's fine with me, but it will shake the definitions of classes and will spawn annoyances - enjoy.

Uhm, what? I used champion GG only for the Junglers fact, as you highly overrate relevancy of combined pickrate of top champs in certain role. The entire second part is from your source, that you provided. Also I am the biased one? I provided you with numbers from your source. You compare champion who is in spotlight 4 patches in row with Lee Sin who is in spotlight 22 patches in row. How is it bias? It's literal opposite. It's simple numbers and facts. Lee Sin holds high popularity for much longer so it's natural people will get annoyed by him more than by someone who is strong for cca 3 patches, then falls out of meta at least temporarily. That was the point. You wondered why are people bothered by Lee but not the thers. I provided you with the reason, with the fact Lee Sin tends to hold the popularity for much longer without nerfs so it's natural people will get tired of him. Am I tired of Lucian? Slightly. But I am pretty sure nerfs will come for him or his itemization (namely BotRK) within patch or two. If Lee Sin's nerfs would be planned to come they would come to interrupt that 22 patches popularity spree but they didn't come so I don't expect anything at this point, so knowing there is nothing to be done about Lee Sin, I will naturally be more bothered by him than someone like Lucian who jumps out and in the train of popuarity based on what on-hit shit becomes broken on him this time before it's nerfed.

Yet it is 1%-2% difference from what I provided. And it's not that big gap when you consider I only provided the stats to show combining pickrates like this barely prove anything.

They still have nearly the same pickrate and Lee Sin only slightly smaller winrate. Compare that to Ivern who has only around 8% pickrate but 6% more winrate and is currently being constantly nerfed. But 40% people picking Lee Sin and winning half the games is just as annoying as Lucian can be, except for, yet again, Lucian is nearly guaranteed to get nerfs, which is why he doesn't bother me as much as Lee Sin. From top 100 winrate champions/placements only 6 have outstanding pickrates: Ahri, Lucian, Lulu, Caitlyn, Lee Sin, Thresh. You claimed people mainlycomplain about Lee Sin.

Yet, Ahri is constantly being complained about due to her gank-immunity post-6, Lulu for being easy saver, Caitlyn for being overly safe. Lucian and Thresh are being less complained about. Yet again, people probably expect him to get nerfed more likely than the others. As for Thresh, I don't understand why there's not more hate, now and then someone mentoins how he's generalist and Lee Sin of Supports, CertainlyT critique is made about him but that's all.

These stats are not to prove these champs are OP, but they do too well for being so popular which is why they are annoying to people and why all of them get equal amount of hate. They usually take turns in circlejerk as for who is target of complaints but when it's Ahri week she's being criticized the same as Lee Sin.

Yeah this was the case when his play rate was 46% as well. This just shows people just like to play him dude. Probably that's why riot don't nerf the dude like they do lucian where his play rate spikes with winrate.

People like to play him and still win nearly half of the games, that is. But that's irrelevant. Yes, people like to play him which is why other people get tired of seeing him everywhere, which is the point of this entire topic. Just being tired of him. It's not our fault people like to fly around, having safe disengage on low CD, it's not our fault that after seeing him in most of games you kind of get annoyed.

Also I don't too much trust champion.gg because of the exclusion of stats to platinum+ and there are claims that their stat's aren't that accurate.

Facepalm. Just facepalm. Entire last paragraph used your source. The one you trust. I directly linked you to their image documentation where what I listed is proven. By your source. Just... Ah...

And I fully agree with this. And as I stated, Lee Sin isn't the only victim of this. It's not just Cait and Lee. This happens to Lulu, this happens to Ahri. All of them having high success while having high pickrate. People see them every game, people get tired, people circlejerk. None of which is Lee Sin-only bussiness. So it's not the problem with Lee Sin.

This entire discussion began because you thought just because someone is tired of Lee Sin they want him gutted. Then you brought the fact people generally do want him gutted. To which two points:

  1. He's not the only one, which by this time we both concluded and obviously agree with, it's problem with how upvote-whoring and circlejerk work
  2. What's so bad that people want him gutted? When was last time he was nerfed and how strong was the nerf? Riot obviously doesn't listen. So evidently you don't need to be afraid, even despite the circlejerk, Riot commited no actions against Lee Sin, so the circlejerk doesn't seem to be hurting him in-game.

And I am watching IWD and he picks Lee Sin more often than I'd like on supposedly balanced champion. Though I am not sure whether he is Challenger right now - it's possible he's just abusing it for Diamond climbing. As for Dyrus games, I don't remember whether Lee Sin is frequent here.

So basically what you're saying is that your tired of seeing lee sin (this is a eurika moment for me jk). That's fine.

What I'm saying is that just not liking a champion doesn't make them strong. Else the yas feeding thing wouldn't be a meme and he wouldn't have a 40% ban rate for whatever reason.

You also say that he should get meaning ful nerfs but I don't believe that nerfs should be some kind of hot fix for every single problem players face. It causes people to not try to actually beat a champion/build and blame them for their mistakes. Like the recent ninja tabi circle jerk.

Sometimes complaints are justified like frozen mallet yas or the tank assassins. But I would much rather people adapt than ask for nerfs. That's really how the game should evolve but I haven't seen much of that recently cept for mf support and ziggs bot.

Anyways just my opinions.

Well this was a good talk.

YNX Glaive5 votes

If that's what the lees in your games are doing they either aren't playing lee right or they just aren't specifically ganking your lane. Lee has such high mobility and early damage literally the first 15 minutes should be spent with mobis and caulfields hunting down and ganking every person MULTIPLE TIMES.

Im A Jayce God4 votes

What they do is afk farm, go to a lane to gank, then once they miss their Q, they run away. Most useless ganks ever.

Give each champ two mobilities within basic kit, one disengage and edgy character and all champs will be fun to play and he'll get lost among all the fun to play champions, so y'all won't see him so often. GG EZ.

JedenVojak2 votes

Why do people always complain about popular champions? I guess the fun of others means nothing to you.

Cowseed2 votes

This dude. I actually asked a guy about his opinion on bot lane where three champs Caitlyn, Lucian and Ezreal are picked 86% of the time with lucian having a play rate 4% behind lee sin. The dude actually told me that 'adcs just shoot things. They're kits aren't important so that's not too bad.' (paraphrased a bit).

This shows me that people don't really care. They just want to agree with the popular opinion which is so damn ironic. Players make the game so much harder to balance by being this unreasonable at times. The game could even have been near perfectly balanced at times but the placebo effect is way stronger than any buffs or nerfs riot can give.

Right. It's just, a bunch of people say, "this guy is OP" then it just gets in your head like "man, yeah that guy's OP".
