Unranked for 4 years. So I kind of know what you're feeling but can't really sympathize because I don't really care for competitive play that much.
I'm just now attempting to actually get gold since my friends think I belong in silver..I told them i'm in it by choice because I don't care for the sivir skin since I don't adc.

Know the feeling. I only ever get myself ranked at the end of the season for the rewards (end up with bronzie since I only ever play those 10 games). I will likely never know what getting a victorious skin feels like :L

in season 1 the award was a judgement kayle for everyone who played like +10 games (normals or ranked)...i have it in my first account that i forgot the summoner name and the password (and the e-mail used)...Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end...

I read a comment somewhere on the boards that all you have to do is get to gold in a Ranked Team in order to get the Victorious skin. You won't get the gold border, but at least you'll get the Victorious skin.
The Victorious Skin line has always been for Gold+, so saying now you finally have incentive after 4 years is kinda meh, you've had that incentive every season. You should have known there would be a Gold+ skin at the end of the season, there always is.
the problem is that no matetr how good you are, no matter how hard you try... there will always be one troll to screw you over.
my first ever ranked attempt i wont 8 out of 10 placement matches, went straight to S4, dragegd myself up to S2... then got NOTHING but trolls, feeders, even disco players... now im stuck in perpetual ELO hell... and no matter how hard i try i cant get any higher then S3 now.
DIdn't they state that victorious skins will be coming to shop for the previous ones at each season end? So that you'll get victorious sivir for moneyz at s6?
Getting to gold takes time and effort. But would be almost meaningless without a reward
