What troubles me here is that Shen and Zed are technically brothers, in the idea that Zed is adopted.

Shen struggles to contain his anger over the murder of his father at the hands of Zed, a man he once considered his brother.

An orphan, Zed was taken in and trained by a great ninja master. Only one other student appeared to be Zed's equal - the master's son, Shen.

That makes this pretty messed up.
