No one expects the DoT if you bring ignite. That combined damage is a large chunk of their HP over time, you could probably disengage when they're at 20% health and just drop ult+ignite and get the kill.

Pro tip- get a kill or two ahead when facing a melee opponent, then pretend to afk in the middle of the lane. Let them start hitting you so they think you're a free kill, then just unload Q on them, drop ult and ignite, then walk away like they do in the movies with the explosions behind them.
