looks pretty badass, and don't get me started on Veigar. They're not all anime styled, and certainly not all cute.
Riot is selling characters, and having poor design and cough lore cough means the product is poor. A poor product is not making Riot money, and not giving players their money's worth, so it's in everyone's interest to have Riot polishing characters.
AyRe CoNteMpT1 votesthe question is, is this a polished character? in my eyes, she is just a generic "cutsy" anime character. before, she was the fucking hammer wielding diplomat. she was SERIOUS. she wasnt cute or beautiful nor was she THAT YOUNG. she was a grown (!haha) woman who was doing serious business. a warrior, not a girl.
right now, her kit is more like some kind of utility-assassin than a warriors and her from her stupid cute look i cant take her serious anymore. she was very special before, now shes just some boring generic char for kids.
(PS: im not saying her previous kit was balanced or well designed, but her concept style was)
Rendarkan5 votesI would say she is more refined artistically. She had her own special uniqueness compared to say Tristana who was bubbly sounding. Poppy had a more mature tactical feel in her looks, voice and playstyle.
That said, the point of a rework is just that. Rework. With Tristana they brought her more up to date and refined her core character as a small critter using a rocket launcher as a weapon. With Poppy I believe they wanted to make a more in depth champion as she is one of the only few if not the only champion with full facial expressions. Eidt: For background I did play Poppy prior to her rework and I found her character model and art was clunky and bland with little personality. Riot went a good direction and it paid off well, Poppy's reception has been positive. Also, she is still a fully grown Yordle as they live immensely longer than others by lore. Hell Teemo got a post apocalyptic skin.

"Jokes? I don't know any jokes." was her old joke. And that sucked ass because it was bland and unremarkable.
Now the joke it is totally different... she tells jokes, and tells them badly! Is like another face of the character and shows a lot of personality depth. Even thought it is no more totes serious, every champion does silly things if asked to... because that is the point of adding silly things in the game! I mean, Azir does not act like a pigeon if someone asks him a joke!

was a Megling too, but you would have to ask someone who has played him since the beginning, I hardly remember what he was like before his update, much less his original lore.
