I've added champs to my champion pool specifically because people on the boards thought they were broken, 90% of the reason I learned to play Katarina.

I just refer to the last thing Riot said about him 2 and a half years ago: "We believe he is completely balanced and have no plans to adjust him in the future". Sounds great till you realizes this is an evolving game and your main has been stagnant for 2 1/2 years while every other champ has been getting fancy new additions to their kits. My only hope was the Diver update, which got muscled out by the assassin update... so that's at least another half a year to wait...
