You'd think that with a playerbase of millions, many of whom have played for years, more than 1 out of 14 would have a clue of how the game works, but apparently not, because someone in Plat 5 said so.
Just for argument's sake, lets say you drop to Gold 1. You would have me believe that you no longer have any idea how to play the game, because you're standard for 'knowing what you're doing' is set at 'be better than 13 out of 14 players'. If it is not readily apparent to you, being better than a vast majority of players and having a basic understanding of the game are laughably far apart from each other. You're either just stroking your ego by participating in the Plat+ circlejerk or your being spiteful for spite's sake.

You can't possibly balance champions around sub-optimal CS, sub optimal decision making, and sub-optimal mechanics.
You could give a plat player a 1k gold advantage early game playing jayce VS a challenger player, and the plat would still lose. That doesn't mean jayce needs buffs
SzGamer2271 votesFirst of all, you do know what you're doing. Anyone in Gold+ probably has a really good idea of what they are doing because they've climbed higher than most other players.
Second of all, I never said that balancing around Plat+ was a flawed system. I'm posting a thread titled "Fun fact" in the Memes and Games Section... if I were posing a criticism about this I would've been a lot more direct about my approach.
That said, I think the game could benefit from balancing around Gold+ instead of Plat+, very simply because it gets closer to fixing issues that Silver players have that Plat players don't (40% of the player base is in Silver, so I think it's safe to say that at least a few of the issues where a large amount of players complain about something that Riot doesn't seem to pick up on can be attributed to Riot datamining players in a far distant MMR). Including Gold players would mean Riot is getting cream-of-the-crop data from it's top 20%, which is three times broader in terms of MMR covered, but still analyzes only players who are good at the game.
Anyways, think people might be getting the wrong idea form this thread because the Brand "mind blown" sticker can carry a connotation of "wtf kind of whack shit is this" so I've upgraded to a much more positive Jinx sticker to avoid the assumption that I'm complaining about this.
venomous frost2 votesi'm with you on balancing gold+, but we don't know if riot doesn't already do this, we take data from op.gg, but riot has their own data. Also later in the season plat 5 is about top 20%.
And honestly, this isn't really a M&G post, you just indirectly accused riot of bad balancing policies. Even though it might not be your intention.

Anyways, glad we could clean up that misunderstanding. It's way too easy to read something in a way it wasn't intended to be on internet forums, especially when people are used to seeing salt post and expect nothing less.
