Now it's an execution ult.
"I MUST KILL THE ASSASSINS!"
Riot: "NO, VEIGAR. YOU ARE THE ASSASSINS!"
I still can't find out where this meme came from since it's so hard to get results based on "you are the".
An extremely old meme; an ironically written Doom fanfiction, if I am not mistaken.
It seems like it'll do way more damage to more than just mages if they aren't at full HP. So, yeah you won't be able to "Press R" 100-0 them with just R. However, that isn't really fun for anyone but Veigar. ;)
That being said, it should be a lot easier to farm up stacks! so maybe it'll still be there when the patch is released (before they nerf it)
I don't know about everyone else, but my general "Delete" pattern was E Stun->W (because it takes forever to fall)->Q or R->R or Q -> W finally hits* *Might miss, depending on how much AP is in play at that point.
With these changes, I feel like it will be E Stun-> W -> Q -> Wait for it... -> Wait for it... -> Try to mash R before they flash out of range, but after W hits.
I agree that the AP for anything hitting at all could offset these changes to his ultimate, but I'm pretty sure that regardless the full combo pattern will change. It could lead to earlier kills for Veigar though, so we'll see.
He's probably going to be taken bot lane as a support again with these changes, the very thing that got his E nerfed and resulted in his current issues... With his Q going down in cost by 20 mana and him being able to get AP from hitting enemy champs, he's going to be taken as a support where he can use his Q to poke and get AP.
This is disgustingly evil and I must try it. Event Horizon may no longer be the instant doom it once was, and ADCs will likely cry about kill-stealing, but the potential to abuse these changes are tantalizingly cruel.
ye hell i might even play him now wiht a soraka 100% root eat that meteorite!
Not just his Q to poke, but his W and his E as well.
Just take Relic Shield to farm siege minions as well and you're fucking crispy gold.
Q costs WAY less than W and is more reliable to hit, he's losing his mana regen passive which (Even if it wasn't fantastic) did help him with his mana costs. And this update means you don't need to take Relic Shield as Veigar support since you'll be getting AP from hitting the enemy. You can instead get spellthief and get gold while you get AP from your poke.
True, but can you really have too much AP?

I don't know about that. If you're good at farming Q, even now, you'll have mana problems. They're removing all viable mana regen. So even if you can farm up another way, it'll still cost you. Veigar's farming rate is hurt more by the mana regen removal than it's helped by the new passive. Dunno how the ult will feel yet. It'll be nice to see it useful against non-AP champs, but the instant delete is nice and has been a part of him since evil yordles were a thing.

Yeah, it was nice to know that I could pick Veigar into mid lane (which I'm not good at) and instant delete either Ahri or LeBlanc since they are super common and frustrating. It was a nice point and click get them away from me. :)
It was stupid to reward him for how well the enemy mage did anyway. This new ult still does incredible damage if the target is low enough. 750 + 150% AP is no joke.
It was just the last part of his old antimage identity, since his original passive leeched AP of nearby enemy champions. When the passive got changed to equilibrium, there's been little reason to keep the enemy AP bonus damage; the MYMU happening just gave them a reason to finally get rid of it.
I'm actually curious. Since Veigar's E gives him assists even if the enemy is only within it, does he gain AP just from trapping somebody in it, or does he actually have to stun them?
Huh, are you sure it gives an assist for them being inside? I thought they had to actually get stunned by it.
It does give him assists. I got several assists that I shouldn't have gotten because of that.
It does 1 true damage to enemies inside so technically u damaged them which is why u get assists, unless they change that it should work the same way.
I have to be honest, I never liked how anti-mage on Veigar was supposed to work. His 100-0 burst I actually don't mind, it's how uninteractive his enemy AP ratio is.
Kassadin and Maokai, their anti-mages in that mages use abilities, which makes it easier for their kits to function with the number of spells used in their vicinity, which can be played with and around by both sides.
Spell shields are cool because they are reactive or premptive means of battling mages, but they are brief and must be used wisely.
Veigar's anti-mage status is basically the laziest form of anti-mage you can do. I could make champion XYZ have a simple, basic enemy crit scaling on his/her/its basic attacks and call him an anti-marksman (or anti-Yasuo), but how interesting is that?
is Veigar still an anti-mage?
Does anti-life count as anti-Mage?
The Tiny Master of Evil is anti-everything.
For real though, new ult makes him basically delete enemies under 25% health in exchange for 80% of their AP.
This sounds really really bad. And really really boring. I wonder if he will be more or less useful with this change.
More.
He now kills AD squishies just as hard as he used to with AP ones. Anything below about 40% HP is dead the second he presses ult.

I don't really feel like that's saying much, since Veigar scales infinitely...
Riot doesn't like anti-mage characters. Look at how much effort they put in to destroying Kassadin.
Dota is a different story though.
Thats because Dota mages are worthy of fear and respect, even without many ways to scale their ability damage.
Immobile mages either hold you still for days or reduce you to a fine crackling mist if you dare approach them without being a pure tank or a fed carry.
The first time a Lina or Lion delete you in Dota, or a Bane basically puts you in time out for 7 seconds with a sleep.ult combo during a teamfight is when you learn the meaning of respect.
Or when you're a fed carry and mad with power, overextend and lose the game because necro ulted you with scepter and you're out of the game for 2 solid minutes.
invoker. Just.... invoker man
When people think Azir is hard I point to Invoker lol
point to meepo and make their skulls crack, side note meepo is my favorite dota hero even if I am piss at the game and hardly play it, meepo's fun man. (invoker is a close second)
is that the one that plants mines everywhere and suicides?
No that's Techies
meepo is the one that splits into up to 5 different meepos that share stats and shoes then each have their own abilities that can teleport to one another, each meepo also counts as a player so that you get exp based on if you were 2 people in the same area, or get exp and gold from up to 5 places in the map late game. Meepos each have their own cooldowns on abilities so you can spam all your abilities at once.
the downside is if a single meepo dies they all do and every non main meepo has only one pair of boots and less stats than the main meepo until you get aghs.
super satisfying to mob one person with shovels and telefrag them with the meepo bomb though.
lmao, it really goes to show how soft and entitled the LoL playerbase is when it comes to balance (and how good Riot /actually/ is at caring about the game, people just bitch and moan without knowing anything)
More than anything I wish they normalized the damage (no enemy ratios or missing health damage) and increased the range a bit.
That would be too boring for an ultimate.
Alright, keep it targeted but on impact it hits in an AOE. Like J4's ult.
They took out most fun reason to play Veigar. Welp I wonder where this will go.
What good does hitting 1k on someone with 100 hp left
They basically gave him Garen's execution ult. Gonna miss the nukes
not like hitting anyone with a Q won't make your ult do more damage than it does now tho
silver linings
Not even against mages. It's been turned into a generic clickshot execute. I miss the days when I could ult a full HP ADC and bring them to 30% essentially removing them from the fight.
I mean it was stupid that it punished the ap mid laner for getting ahead
I'd much rather see Veigar rewarded for farming well than his enemies punished for farming well. He'll still delete people with his R, as long as he stacks enough Phenomenal Evil.
Hmm well his kit make him more powerfull by simply hitting champion with his ability so idk wht is the problem ................ oh yeah now he doesnt require skill .[slayer-jinx-wink]
Every champ requires some semblance of skill. Even Yi or Fiddlesticks.
They both take far more skill than people give credit for. Yi needs to count abilities to avoid hard CC and Fiddlesticks only has one shot to be in the right place at the right time ( I would put Fiddle as one of the hardest champs tbh)
but then you realize how much free ap he's getting from his passive and now the first image applies to everything he does to everyone (ps i have no idea how much ap he's getting for free, i haven't seen gameplay)
