that legit happened to me on my first time through the catacombs. almost shat a brick.
On my first play through the lantern hat dropped, I was like 'what are these garbage stats, don't need this, go ahead and eat it mr.snake, daddy needs some souls'. Never dropped again. FML it makes cata so easy

real men play it without the lantern hat.
real men play with a steering wheel blindfolded
Real men play Dark Souls with Twitch chat.

Twitch plays dark souls was the greatest turn based RPG ever
They ruined it when they transitioned to DS2 though, subs only all the time, way less population ect. Then again the first souls game just has better visual design and more access to awesome items early (ZWEIHANDER) so its a bit more fun to stare at the same zone for an hour.
I think I convinced the chat to throw firebombs at low hp in Undead Parish one time I popped in there so they wouldn't have to play risky with the boar lol. Fell straight off the bridge from the throw animation, did not last long after.

I'm a little bitch that needs the lantern hat to feel safe, lets me use shield. Also prevents me from being "Eh, I got this" and stepping into a deathpit.
when I finally got a lantern, I was all EUREKA but then I found I didn't need it since I was in the dark so long I had memorized the layout

I wish I was that much of a legend. I need a little less darkness in my souls. I usually pref Dex like a fa g, though the time I actually cleared the game I just cheesed it with Zweihander. 4 Kings every fucking time.
I did a lot of dumb shit it my first play through that made things significantly more difficult, I was really lucky and got the Black Knight Spear and then I found the stone armor, I thought stats meant everything and I didn't even know how to run or summon, I look back now and wonder how I beat snorlax&pikachu without solaire & running, I even farmed souls to buy purple moss so I could get through the swamp.

I abuse those pillars, I actually never got body blocked in any playthrough other than this one I relied on Winged spear. If you abuse pillars you get temporary moments of seperation and then its a matter of having great positioning to avoid all their damage while getting to the one you want and then pulling them while forcing the other into a pillar to block your back.
Albeit it takes me like 20 deaths, but I even did this on a "Castlevania" build where I was only allowed light leather stuff and a whip and basic items, I scaled the whip with dex/faith for reasons and eventually beat it.

When I play Dark Souls (once a year b/c I am a nut) I always do the tomb last. The place give me so much anxiety even when I've played through it a hundred times.
I read a lot of people have trouble with skeleton boss, but I always go strength build so it's never been a problem, there must be a lot of sauskes out there rightfully hollowing out >:D

I don't have a problem with Neto I just hate the dark and narrow spaces in the tomb of the Giants so I tend to go there last.
My brother would just equip light armor, two hand the lantern and sprint through. He didn't like playing around in that area at all.

Sounds like your brother is the best ninja in Souls, I know they're mostly slow enemies but there's some real treacherous terrain in that zone, I'd hate backtracking to get the giant dog skeles to move to realize that black knight I didn't kill was still behind me.
My brother did whatever he pleased. He played enough dark souls I've watched him make speed runs through nearly every dungeon and DLC of all three. He was good enough most of the time he fell victim to "fashion souls", where he only played using whatever equipment or items looked cool regardless of stats or damage because he would win anyways.
I've seen him play on friends accounts, throw away nearly maxed out weapons and armor and pub stomp his way through areas fighting with whatever he found on the ground. I've seen him almost beat Nameless King in Dark Souls 3 using only a Greatsword, going naked, and wearing the one ring that increases damage based on player weight. Had him down to about two sings away was his best record.
Mind he did this on a whim with an under-leveled character. He hated side questing and absolutely detested soul grinding for levels, meaning he was probably a solid 10-20 shorter than what he should have been to even conceive doing a thing like that and still almost won. Even though he really only wandered in there like that just for the fun of trying it.

Yeah the Souls players that do this every day remind me of how scrubby I am lol
I spent way more time watching lore videos and playing new characters and trying new builds, its a game with a lotta variety and stuff to learn. Tried that randomizer for DS1 on reddit recently just for an excuse to play my game with favorite lore
I love how off topic this thread is lol
Did he not fight the black knight down there too?
I always take a moment to murder that bastard that pushes you off the edge, then I jump down anyway xD
Don't remember. He usually ran through so fast I could hardly track where he was going or what he was doing. He knew the dark souls maps and mob spawn locations like a person knows where their nose is. He screamed through every map of every game when he felt like it.
if i saw THAT in a league bush id afk.
