Orianna Reveck always wanted to be a dancer, ever since she was a girl. The dance, the beautiful ballet, it fascinated her. She could spend hours watching the girls on stage as they twirled away, and she did... until her father caught her, and scolded her for wasting her time. He was an inventor, the kind of man Piltover needed in the constant struggle to fend off Noxus, Bilgewater, and Zaun. He built weapons, and he built some of the best. And what he wanted out of his daughter was a successor, a grease-stained mechanic to defend the future of the city. Not some pretty doll flower spinning around for the world to see. But still, still Orianna longed for the spotlight.
Years passed, and Corin Reveck never let up, working himself and his daughter tirelessly on new robots, automatons, even massive hextech turrets to keep Piltover safe. Always watchful of spies, he turned away all outside help, keeping his secrets in his own purview, and away from the hands of Zaunite machinists who would only use it for evil. He turned away every inventor, even a bright young native boy named Jayce who had all the hallmarks of a brilliant scientist. Corin grew more and more isolated, and in turn, Orianna was less and less free to leave, less able to see the city and its people, and eventually, even lost the ballet.
One day, a dark day in Piltover history, she was testing some of his designs. Just walking automatons, the first in a long line of infantry soldiers for Piltover, robots that would never eat or rest, and could be rebuilt or forged anew after even the most costly of battles. It was to be Corin's magnum opus--with one important exception. But on this day, a careless hand forgot to unload the weaponry these tin soldiers bristled with. Orianna, lost in thought, humming to herself, she...
But as she faded, her body broken, her mind lost in the ballet she loved, Corin gazed down upon the only love he had known for so long, the only thing, he realized, that he had ever truly created. His masterpiece, here this whole time, and he never knew. And so he pulled out his bodyguard unit. It was early, too early to use; it was just a ball, a sphere, without much inside. But Corin did what he could, and saved everything of his daughter inside. If only someday he could find a way to utilize it, to harness her being... he may just have saved her life after all.
Days passed, Corin working endlessly on the machine. Giving it thoughts, functions, just basic ability. It was just a temporary shell, enough to hold her, for a time, but it would never be his daughter until he found a way to replace her. And then, a few days later, just as the news was truly breaking to the citizens of Piltover, he found an old boarded up storehouse. Inside was--it was a beautiful porcelain-faced machine, an elegant woman that resembled Orianna as much as it did her mother. A relic, then, something she had been working on in her private time.
He studied the machine, circling it, marveling at the joints, the craftsmanship in every part of it. And as he mumbled to himself, tears brimming in his eyes, his voice roused the slumbering android. He watched, amazed, as it pirouetted and twirled around him, leaping through complicated maneuvers like a professional. She had built it to watch, he realized. The ballet was lost to her for all these years, so she brought her own into the world. With tears streaming down his face, Corin collapsed at the feet of the glowing sentinel, its routine complete, its vacant face staring down at him.
"Why is it leaking?" the thing asked. Corin looked up, and saw in it, some promise of the future for his baby girl. He vowed that he would spend the rest of his life saving everything he could of her, no matter the cost to himself... or to Piltover. But for the time being... for the time being, his beloved Orianna could at least dance.
