Worked as a python programmer for 6 months when I was 16 doing scientific computations and data analysis based on mass spectrometry for a Biomedical company. Left because the work eventually became too vague and I didn't enjoy it anymore. It was fun until that happened (I love mathematics and statistics).

Now I work as an IT Technican at the high school I just graduated from! Been working here for over a year now. Damn it is great not needing to go to college, lol. Vocational High Schools are awesome.

I would have hated not going to college. I met my closest friends there and have grown so much. But i'm entering my senior year of college getting my B.S. in computer science. And i have no idea what a vocational school is, it must not be a thing in the part of the US i'm from.

Nah, Vocational High Schools are found everywhere in the country. They are essentially a High School that smashes 4 years of Academics into 2 years then does 2 years of a major that can range from something in the trades (welding, electrical, automotive, HVAC/R,etc) to a tech major (Programming and Web Development [My major :D], Robotics, Engineering, Biotechnology). Or something like Culinary as well. Or DVC. There are a lot of choices. We still can get into college just fine and people who major in Robotics, Engineering, Programming, and Biotech here generally have to go to college, but I don't need to right away. I'll just get a job that will pay for my college instead.

They are not exactly the most well known type of school. I never knew my school existed until I was in 8th grade and had to sit through their orientation. And sadly, Voc Schools have a bad rep for those that do know of them due to what they originally were for decades ago (during our parents' time of schooling). Voc Schools used to be for students that fail in Academics and will probably never succeed or be accepted to college. In result, Voc School Academics were mediocre at best and parents nowadays are very hesitant to send their children there. In the last few years alone, this has changed drastically. My school is the 40th best public school (going against traditional public schools as well as charter schools) in my state which also has some of the best educational systems/schools in the country. And this is considering the fact that we do what those traditional high schools do in 4 years... in 2. But unlike normal traditional high schools, we aren't forced to go to college after high school or risk working at McDonald's the rest of our lives. We have a choice to explore what we really want to do for the rest of our lives and possibly even look at a future free of student loans and debt.

It is a great feeling.

As for me, I do not really care for going to college for the friend aspect of it. The only thing i do in my free time is play League. I have been doing that for the last 3 years. And the only people I ever got close to were people that played League, and the better/more serious the player, the better friends I would become. I mean, my boyfriend is someone I not only met on League, but I met on the boards as well. My friends are the memers I found here.

Damn... I just wrote a fricken essay....

I've never heard of such a school before, i'm from small town Iowa so it may not be a thing around there. I'm familiar with vocational rehab, which is a program to assist people with disabilities ( i have multiple), they help pay for my college. There was plenty of opportunity to explore what i wanted do do while in high school, i took an online course on python through Stanford university. I'm also lucky enough to be able to graduate college debt free, through a combined effort of myself and my parents. Even if my parents weren't paying anything i would be graduating with under 40,000 in debt which would take me a maximum of 3 years to pay off, which is amazing for attending a private school. Smart money management will get you far in life. (Invest in a Roth IRA while you are still young you will not regret it) But that kind of school sounds like something that should be much more common. I know Marco Rubio (not to turn this political it's just the only time i've heard of a similar idea) was proposing a reform of the education system to allow kids to graduate high school with certifications in things like welding, plumbing, and other areas. It's a really smart idea and i would love to see a push for it in the near future. I also met my friends because of league and other video games, but i want to make them so it's only appropriate that i befriend people with a similar passion towards them. Now if only i could find myself a mate.

To be fair, it would not be much of a reform since these schools have existed for many decades. If anything, it would be nice for these schools to gain a better reputation. Or, you know, for parents to actually listen to us when we state the facts of how awesome our school is rather than be as stubborn as the love child between Donald Trump supporters and Tyler1 fans.

Now if only i could find myself a mate.

I hate the term bromance and everything it implies. Basically the only hiccup I have with homosexuality is that the thought of dating a man other than myself makes me realise how BAD the behavioural standards for males can also be (I generally only perceive how garbage the female ones consistently are).
