Fiora sword would've broke from the immense weight and power from Tryndamere when he swung his sword on to hers.

that's why you deflect it not block it. puts much less stress on the blade. and on sabers and rapiers, which are designed for parrying and deflecting. it would work.

then if sparks are flying like above then both blades would have became extremely dull.

well sparks and such depends on the material. but remember that's an anime. partical effects are par for the course. but if you look see how Saber's blade looks like its bouncing around a lot more? that is showing her letting the blade be knocked aside by the great sword. her blade is still taking the brunt but she's deflecting not reflecting.

I was just being "that guy" on anime and games not being realistic.

well like i said swords can spark... it just means that its made horribly and will shatter in your hands very soon.

the sparks mean there's still slag left in the metal which exponentially decreases the strength of the blade.

....And i just realized im in a talk about sword fighting and physics and crafting on a league of legends board. [slayer-jinx-wink]

In either case, primarily it's speculation because the gif moves far too fast to see if she is meant to be parrying or not. However, just watching the blue blur that I would assume is the blade, she seems to have multiple points where she tries to impact the sword at a perpendicular angle. A rapier, while designed to parry and deflect, does not do either very well vertically (or perpendicularly to be more precise). It is meant to bend and give-way enough to allow for the glancing nature of fencing maneuvers. That's why in fencing when you parry it is done with a simple push to the side, not with a full swing of the sword. In fact, an actual power-maneuver is to simply swing your sword at the opponent's sword to knock it away, and if done correctly is more than enough to knock someone off-balance.

Is it stands, though, a sword like that would not be able to perform such actions against a cleaver such as that. That's actually one of the reasons two-handed swords such as a Zweihander and Claymore were created - they were big enough to actually render the bulky armor knights wore practically worthless in that that was their sole purpose. Cleaving armor. They were much to unwieldy and slow to justify against someone unarmored, but as heavy armor was made to deflect the swords of the past - generally short swords and the like - technology evolved to next best such defenses. Then came your light, piercing weapons - rapiers, foils, etc. - not because they could stand against such weapons but because they were far faster and more precise, meaning while your enemy is swinging what was practically 7 pounds of dead, air-resistant weight, you had plenty of time to side-step and jab them in the throat.

I actually don't believe it's even suggested to try just purely deflecting such a weapon in that manner. It's easier and safer just to side-step, and it keeps you from being knocked off-balance.

But this is entirely ignoring that it's anime and it's so wildly inaccurate that 14 year old stick-girls fire the equivalent of a Barrett with one hand all the goddamn time.

While in bikinis.

To be fair, this fight is a tad bit inacurate to the ACTUAL interpretation, her sword being a longsword and not a Rapier. Excalibur to be precise

For Carthage1 votes

Japanese fascination with Western mythology tied in with their utter misinterpretation and lack of understanding of it makes for some, uh... oddities.

the sparks come from the grinding of materials. if its being deflected, it will grind against the flat of saber's blade, creating sparks

Now now, twice Riots new lore has stated Demacian steel is the strongest, even capable of repelling Mordekaiser's magic. That and its blue steel, the fact its mentioned the way it is makes it probably standard then normal Demacian steel.

In the anime in question these are in manifestations of heroic spirits via magical energy. That gif is of King Arther (yes she is a girl in this show) fighting Heracles. I think all science and logic is gone now.

you have girl name, girl picture and the way you type is girlish yet you are a guy

Embertine is not a girl name. You may be looking only at the "ember" that is in it, but the name is Embertine, which is not a girls name.

My avatar is just a image that I liked. Because that is what avatars are. I'm pretty sure that Laughing Fish is not actually a shark that is forever laughing, and I don't think that the one person I saw is in fact a tree. Their avatars are just that avatars, images that they liked.

And what do you mean I type in a girlish way? I honestly can't tell the difference really.

But no, I do not pretend to be a girl.

its acctualy the ine that makes it girl name not ember, ine is always girl name ending, and the way you type some times you say 'umm what'' and like this which is usualy girl seducing type

Embertine1 votes

The name was from one of the books I was writing. I simply liked it enough that I use it for all my online profiles.

And the way I type is simply how I type. I had no intention of sounding like a girl.

I apologize for the confusion.

Well. . . .he may very well be a shark. Though laughing forever? Nah I think he just laughs 99.99990% of the time really.

You can't "type girlish". You can choose feminine fonts, of course, but there is know way to distinguish "Male typing" from "Female typing". People are unique. They do what comes naturally to them, like you for example.
