Nobody would want chaos irl anyway. They choose it in game because it is edgy. But in reality Yasuo plans essentially mass murder followed by rebuilding a barely livable world. Riven pursues progress and order for everyone, bringing peace, unity and love.

Of course we wouldn't make the same choice in real life. But this is a fantasy game and we are allowed to live up stuff in here we wouldn't irl. ^^

I doubt there are many people who would like to become a serial killer in reality, yet we got alot of people who enjoy Jhin as a character. And yes, I would agree with you. But no, many people are not living it out because of fantasy, they actually try to provide 'reasonable' arguments while clearly worse sides in fiction are 'better' then nitpick every action and word of the clearly good side to make them look 'evil' for minor transgressions.

If people said "Fuck good I wanna be evil!" Sure that would be whatever. My problem are people who think they provide legit arguments for that side.

For example, if a Darius main says "Fuck Riven that cowardly deserter. She is not a true Noxian!" I hold that in good humor and would reply in turn. It is fun to be a blood thirsty asshole in fantasy where it does not hurt anybody.

If a Darius main tries to argue that Darius in lore is somehow a better human being than Riven... that is where I have a problem. Even Riot said they made Riven to make a Noxian who wasn't 'insufferably evil'. It is clear she is good hearted and it is clear Darius is an bloodthirsty asshole. But they try to argue otherwise... somehow.

That is my problem with these events. Not people choosing the villainous side because it is villainous. Choosing the Villainous side and trying to claim it is not villainous.

The basics are that Sion was a powerful general in Noxus who ended up saving Noxus at the cost of his life by single handily killing Jarvan the 1st as he assaulted the Noxus capital. This made him a hero to the Noxian people and a legend to look up to when living to the Noxian code. Unfortunately his friend Boram Darkwill, the then leader of Noxus, felt uneasy now that his most loyal supporter was dead. Enlisting the help of the Black Rose, he brought Sion back to life...not as he planned however. He wanted someone who could lead an army, instead he got a murderous war machine.

He did use Sion, but it proved too dangerous for the safety and moral of his own armies. So instead of killing the abomination (possibly because Sion couldn't die) he locked him away within his own statue and left him to rot. Fast forward to the present, and Swain decides he wants Sion as a weapon once more. With Vlad and Leblanc of the Black Rose, he gains some better control over Sion. Sion is still an undead killing machine, but in the brief moments without carnage he has fleeting thoughts of realization of what he is. The moment blood is spilled, he forgets them (and he can't hold onto them for long anyway).

There is some debate as to what kind of person Sion was before his death. Leblanc calls him a butcher more than a leader, but it's also Leblanc so I'm not going to trust her opinion.

Personally I like to think Sion was a simple man who did enjoy war but was no monster. A man who loved Noxus, but also loved others and would be willing to do anything to keep them save.

Actually from the sounds of it, free death Sion is exactly the kind of person Riven would like. He sounds like a True noxian Glory through war, Twisted by the kind of people Riven hates. Filthy Black magicians and politicians.

My headcanon is that Sion is actually Riven's ancestor. For two reasons.

I like to think that Sion is biologically related to another noxian champion.
It's poetic that Sion's resurrection marks a decline for Noxus morality while Riven marks a return.

Nazi Germany caused Europe to descend into chaos. It was not the 'essence of order' it was a faulty governmental system.

No, order is necessary to preserve personal freedom. The old west is a perfect example. Where there was 'freedom' meanwhile people were constantly oppressed and hurt by whoever had more guns in the area. Things calmed down and the west became more livable once order was established and law was more regularly maintained. Anarchy has never ever worked in the history of mankind for a reason, meanwhile orderly societies are always eventually established because people want and need peace and safety, stability and the ability to happily raise a family and survive.

It is countries and regions thrown into chaos that are considered bad to live in, and the world tries to establish order in those regions.

After Nazi Germany was defeated, the first resolution was that Europe had to be brought back to order and orders were established to prevent such events from happening again.

Chaos is, at best, a momentary suffering(literally Riven's line) with the goal of achieving a new version of order. If the current version of order is feeling outdated or oppressive. Which is not Yasuo's goal, he wants to see the world burn in destruction and mass death followed by rebuilding a chaotic world of his vision. Sounds far more 'Hitler' to me if we are trying to play that retarded trump card.

i still believe neither side is truly good in that case but that's just my opinion.

1: You start off with the typical "basically hitler" bs the media uses then expect a positive response.

2: Yasuo is not a healthy cycle of unrest or revolution he wants to commit mass murder and world destruction in this skin lore.

3: The worst thing Riven says is "Freedom is defeated" which seems more personally related to Yasuo. Otherwose she just seems overzealous at worst.

tbh i didn't really expect a response on that.Because i don't usually comment that much. Also i guess Hitler wasn't really the best analogy to explain my pov.

Okay sure you may be able to find some historical account of people in the name of peace and Order claiming that they stand for those ideals, then committing mass murder for it. But we are not talking about historical accounts, we are talking about two concepts here.

Yasuo vs. Riven in this setting, in which one stands for destruction in mass murder in the name of freedom, and the other excessive control in the Name of Love Peace and Order.

While excessive control can suck, it doesn't compare to mass murder and destruction. So even if, and that is an if, we had confirmation that Riven pushes things way too far, I would still be choosing that side on the lesser of two evils. And hoping for a later more sensible Rebellion. However from what I can see in their dialogue and the comic, Riven isn't it as totalitarian as people put off.

The other thing we are discussing is order vs. Chaos. Order and peace are always the goal in real life, like I said chaos is at best a way to rid yourself of a negative form of order. With the end goal of establishing New Order. Which is fine and healthy, but that is not Yasuo stance in the story.

Even if the Skins were switched as well as the ideologies, I would be forced to stand against a character I like more to side with order. At least so long as they are presented in the manner that they are. As fun as it would be to play a Riven who is talking about world destruction and shit, I would not want to see that side winning either.

Now this isn't to say nobody should side with Yasuo because it is fantasy. But from the information we have available his side is clearly worse for the majority of people.

Fair enough Yasuo base character is already highly enjoyable. In fact my favorite Riven ship is Yasuo. So I can understand it sucking that he got the skin that says "oh I'm evil!" Even if he brings up some good points.

That said in fantasy evil is fun anyway. So shrug. I play people liie Vlad and Sej who are considered jerks but I love them.

Silly pun aside.

In the setting given to us. The choice is to follow a genuinely good-hearted girl lead us to a better future, in exchange for some stricter rules. Or follow Edgy McEdgelord that is going to destroy everything we love, then create a world of chaos, and with the second law of thermodynamics, a world of chaos would quickly reach total entropy, and thus heat death of the universe.

Besides, there are also people like this on order.
