I agree. As of right now he's got the targeted CC to deal with the popular mobile assassins, the free passive armor for himself and teammates to deal with the double ADC comps, and armor shred and mixed damage for the popular tank tops.
He's flexible enough to viably play top lane, support, and even jungle.

If Taric had THIS kind of rework making almost like a Gem Berserker then I would LOVE to play him. But I really cant wait until he has a rework the poor guy needs it. Same goes for Warwick, Yorick and Nunu.
I can't say he doesn't need a rework. But I love getting in aram and ignore poke champs with a single self case Q after one or two items. Hell a 
tried to 1v1 me when must of our teams was dead and his 
was coming to back him up. Didn't end well for him, but the mundo killed me after he went down (nerf mundo lol). I hope they don't update him into a 
... I don't want his potential power and utility hampered by some gimmick mini game, just for the sake of having one.
I actual feel like that taric in that gif/video when I get closer to full build in aram and people don't build enough penetration or grievous wounds to deal with him early on.

Taric's kind of...meh right now.
He has his niche and is a good choice against full AD team comps or if you need/want that 100% reliable stun to lock people down, but he could be better. Not to mention his models are horrendous and needed an update 3 years ago.
I look forward to Riot's update of Taric. I know they'll preserve his basics and make him more interesting like they did with Shen.

I had to deal with the horror of Top Lane Taric while I was playing volibear one game... He would literally stun me every 3 seconds. Walk up to me, proc IBG's passive, shatter, and walk away. There was literally nothing I could do. If i tried to run after him he'd just stun me again and do the same thing. He went full Armor that game....
I'll have some trouble getting over Taric's update (death). He's pretty much the only tank support I liked since they nerfed (killed) Leona. Soraka was also pretty hard to get over, I still grieve for her from time to time.
Alas, I reached mastery lvl 5 a month or so ago and was dubbed "the gem god" by a teammate so I think I'm prepared to give up playing him. ^the sad story of a support main.

I just hope his rework incorporates his giant hammer more frequently. With a hammer that big you would assume he would deal some nasty damage.
